Drug czar says medical marijuana is bad medicine

DETROIT (AP) — The nation's top anti-drug official says the medical marijuana proposal before Michigan voters next month is not grounded in medical science and may lead to increased criminal activity.
John Walters is the director of the White House drug-control policy office. He is a Detroit native and grew up in Lansing.
If approved by voters next month, Proposal 1 would let severely ill patients in Michigan use marijuana to relieve pain, nausea and other symptoms. Twelve states have similar programs.
Walters said in an interview Wednesday he hopes voters will reject the proposal. Walters was in Michigan this week to campaign against the measure.
Supporters of Proposal 1 say Walters and other opponents distort the facts to scare voters.

It is not legal for the drug czar to use federal funds to campaign against a ballot initiative.
I wish he would follow that law and restrict his comments about ballot proposals to the times when he is not working.

John Walters is full of shit. Mrs Rabbit had cancer and went through chemo two years ago. Without her legal weed, she would have died. Smoking pot was the only way she was able to hold down food. Her doctor prescribed the 'best anti-nausea medicine' available, but was absolutely worthless compared to mj.

I, too, was prescribed medical MJ and I'm a firm believer that IT is one of the main reasons I'm still here. Fuck that piece of shit Walters. If one of his family members had cancer, I'd bet he'd be all for their use of it.

Marijuana is essential in some cases to keep down the important anti-oxidants and phytochemicals that the body needs to fight cancer. I think Walters is going to get a brain tumor from all this nonsense, then well see who needs some pot!

I love how medical cocaine, methamphetamine, fenatyl, ketamine, GHB, morphine and barbiturates are all non-issues but suggest that weed may also have medical use and OH MY GOD WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES THAT SEND OUR CHILDREN????!!

IME with some pretty awful surgeries and long recovery periods i've experienced, ive been prescribed some horrible, crude, pharmaceuticals (norco) and they messed me up pretty bad emotionally, and physically (liver damage.) That being said, all my problems got better when i put down the pill bottles and picked up my home made bubbler. i was also able to stop smoking weed on a whim and never thought about smoking it for over 5 years, till i happened to get a bag recently. Weed is non addicting, safe to your organs and doesnt make me a mean bastard.  Why do they say its bad for me?

Ill get slammed but marijuana has huge benefits n low risk my wife whom is 3 mnts pregnant. And sick since day 1. Her dr. Has tried ever kind of anti nasea drug there is including 1 that cost 1100 dollars for 30 pills well fuck the govt because mj is the only thing that allows her to eat and control the sickness and is the only thing out there fda or otherwise which doesn't cause birth defects. Marijuana also does better than my valium at ending chronic muscle spasms in my back and I refuse opiates. Please overgrow the govt and help legalize. Muddypotter

I have yet to see any evidence that mj causes mirth defects or any other complications but I have heard quite a lot of good arguments saying the exact opposite and claiming there are positive effects from ingesting cannabis while pregnant
smoking is always bad though.

THC has been used in medicine for a long time for cancer and aids patients, perscribed in a pill called marinol. I'm sure it would be much less expensive if you could just buy an eigth though.

The Drug Czar is legaly obligated to speak against all drugs, even if every word he says is an utter, sickning lie. I hope he rots in the bowels of hell, where he will be raped by demons in front of all of his loves ones and forced to relive all the pain the drug war has caused, down to the last teenager tickited for a splif.
