The Universe asks you to be...

What?
Does it?
Or is it us that's asking and demanding?
Is there really all this right and wrong in the Universe?
Or can you just be who you are?

The brain fills the universe. What does it see ? What does it ask ? One thing it does, though, is doing ! doing !

Gee golly, and here I thought that we were just as much a part of "the universe" as anything else.

I think if the universe asked you to be something, you would know it.
Other than that, you're just being yourself, whether is delusional, heroic, lazy, or just plain apathetic.

"By the way," Hawking added, "ever think about what'd happen if you, say, went back in time and accidentally killed your own younger self? Man, that shit would be so fucked up."

Hmmmmmm, thats a tough one. I don't think it's possible, I'd say the only thing you can do is give up on trying to be anything. Though I really dont have anything tangible to base that on; I may be wrong.

My reason for this thread is to explore how often we think we need to be any certain way so we will be acceptable to life. But really it's all in the head.

i think its very hands off. all it asks you to do is to contribute morally and show your resistance against immoral acts. so yes there is right and wrong, the universe is God's simulator. with him there is just purity, here we experience both sides to learn, not to sound religious. There is a certain creativity that drives the universe. thats the missing x factor in why these works of nature are so incredibly intellectually designed. You can be who you are, cause and effect here will change your perspective and personality, i would argue here we aren't our true selves, we are in a very open and incomplete/impermanent form. This doesn't damn us to some suffering life, but leaves us susceptible to failure.

its hard to say, i believe we must be moral, we cant know if every little immoral thing we do is issued back against us (karma-like), but i think it would be immoral saying god cant keep track of every little thing or saying he doesnt, limiting its power or assuming loopholes in your behaviors judgment, would obviously immoral

The universe is perfect without thought. Development, then consists in overcoming thought - instinct - impulse - fear - doubt, things that surrender the mind. All we have to do is find ourselves and stay there, the rest comes through this.

Luckily the delusion of absolute certainty is allowed to us only within the bounds of the universe's relativity.

Morality is man made. It is, indeed, all in our head.
Of course then there are the 'laws' of nature which can kill us or keep us alive. I think the real question is 'is morality a survival instinct or mass insanity'?
