yep and yep. Might not be trich, but it's not good. You can try cutting some of the untained myc from the center and transfer it, but chances are that will go south as well depending on your sterilization techniques.

sorry man

everything was going great until yesterday. i saw the beginnings of some fruits and then i wake up to this! i am a beginner but i for sure sterilized everything. i guess what could have been a problem was my humidifier water was not sterilized

I'm doubtful it was unsterilized humidifier water. But, I'm not gonna say that's impossible to be the cause. Tell us more about what exactly you did.  What substrate? Was it cased and if so with what?  Was your casing sterilized or pasteurized?  If you used peat did you buffer the Ph?

hard to see on my phone, if it were trich id expect to see lots of green. ill have a look when i get home.

if its grey then it may be cobweb which can be treated with peroxide.

Toss it.  The whole top of the substrate is contaminated, but just hasn't all turned green yet.  It looks like trich to me, but it also looks like the color balance is off on your camera, thus the pea-soup green instead of forest green.

IT is definitely Forrest green my camera's color must be off. I pressure cooked the dirt (coco coir and verm) for one hour. i am using a plastic tub as a terrarium. i tilted the tub upside down and put a garbage bad underneath it to catch the moisture from the humidifier (reli-on). I keep the humidifier on the lowest i can because it was seemingly to high and condensation was collecting on the surface of my casing. here is a picture of my set up.

I just don't know what could possibly have gone wrong. like i said this happened over night! i turned off my humidifier for the night because of all the condensation. Could that have something to do with it?

Coir has nutrients.  You sterilized it.

If you sterilized a BRF or grain jar then opened it up and poured it on top of your substrate would you expect it to contaminate?  Coir doesn't have the nutrients in it that grain does but it does have enough to support a strong trich farm on top of your casing.

Next time I'd suggest pasteurizing the casing and not using coir in it.  A light layer of just plain verm would do or upgrade to using peat.

Other issues that could be addressed is that it's advised not to keep your FC on the floor.  Try putting it on a shelf or something to elevate it at least a foot or more off the floor.

Also you should consider just doing a mono or double tub opposed to using a humidifier with that set up.

Not sure if humidifier could cause this, but on a similar note, you might want to get a timer to control how often the humidifier is on. I get them at Home Depot for $8 and they can turn on or off every 15 minutes.

I don't mean to sound the alarm, but that actually looks to be Aspergillus Flavus.  MUCH WORSE THAN TRICH!  As I said, I don't want to sound the alarm!  Either way, Get that shit out ASAP. If it is trich, it's a gonner anyway, if it's Aspergillus Flavus, then you REALLY have to worry about your health.  GET IT OUT!

Agreed, it produces a carcinogen. Which if some of you do not know what that is, it means it can cause cancer. Either way I'd say get rid of it, wear a mask/gloves while doing so.
