Whats up. no spore prints because I dried it out before remembering to make a print. Any way anyone here could safely indicate which mush this is. Found growing out of rotting cavern in big tree trunk. When fresh, has wrinkly white dome.hood shaped cap (1-1.5 inches in diameter) with in-turned edges (cap color has turned a bit yellowish after drying). Gills are wavy and condensed and don;t connect to stem; gills started cinnamon brown and have stayed basically the same just darkened a bit. The stem is thin and only about 2-2.5 inches long; started white with some bluish greenish tint in the fibers (stem has turned mostly brown with drying). No bruising really; maybe some of the brown on the stem is the result of slow bruising. Thanks.

Nope, can't make out what it is, this one's dried out too much. Sorry.

Probably Pluteus. It could also be Volvariella.

Thanks for the advice, and sorry about not having a spore print. Would you say it is safe to try or should I not risk it? Thanks again for helping a noob!

Wait until you get some better pics of some fresher specimens before you decide to try it.

It was growing alone in the tree trunk, so unless the spores it dropped start to sprout more of the same kind, I don;t think I will get any more than I can be sure are the same. Should I just toss it then? P.S. thanks for the response!

Toss it and keep a watch on the tree trunk the next time it rains.

cool. I had the shroom scoped out for about 3 days; is it typical that a shroom will drop enough spores as it grows, ultimately leading to more of the same variety growing in the same place?
