In the foothills of california Where it hasnt rained more than an inch since june, it has finally cooled off enough to go outside. The other day I found some mushrooms growing in the flower box. I have IDed them as flat-topped agaricus (agaricus praeclaresquamosus :P). Its too bad we cant eat them, but Im happy to finally see some fungus. Tomorrow Im going on an expedition to a wet area of the woods. Happy mushroom season all!

Interesting species. Your ID seems to be pretty accurate, I'd say it's not very far of in any case. I couldn't suggest a more accurate species. Nice photos as well. Keep us posted on your finds!

I agree with Koraks.
Nice ID work for a new member. We don't always get that. Welcome to the Shroomery. There are dozens of forums to post in and read, but this one is the best with the best people. Not that I'm prejudiced or anything.
Cheers, Hongos

I searched the wet spots around my house today for some 'shrooms, but found very little. Definitely nothing worth posting a picture of. But I just heard my dog bark and when I went outside it was raining! Rain glorious rain! It hasn't rained enough to settle the dust here since that crazy lightening storm that started all those fires. I'm going hunting again tomorrow! I can feel it outside that all the plants and fungi and animals are rejoicing for a nice drink! Happy Mushroom Hunting!
