Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god.

I'm considering the existence of a particular god. This particular god is extraordinarily beautiful; in my opinion, the teachings surrounding this god are the most beautiful teachings in the world. These teachings come to us from a legendary master thousands of years ago, and we know this, because we have a holy book made up of many separate books guaranteeing there authenticity. Because of this, I know that these teachings are the words of this legendary master, and they have not been altered in any way. For thousands of years now, these teachings have been passed all over the world as one culture after another expounded upon the hidden messages that they believed were contained within. The historical framework has been examined, and the story's compared. Complex codes have been used to try and discern some esoteric meaning believed hidden within.
The only problem I have is, the teachings are only significant if they are the originals. The message contained within these books must be unabridged since it is the foundation upon which everything else is built. However it can also be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the books and story's upon which we base all of this are forgery's, and that the events, and messages depicted within these books have been altered repeatedly. There are even other versions of the same books that predate the existence of this one, but no one seems too concerned with the obvious disparity that exists between them.
When I allow myself to be caught up in religious ecstasy, I know that the teachings, and beliefs contained within this book must be the original words of this legendary master, yet at the same time I know for a fact that they are not. As I loose myself within these teachings none of this matters. Through this message I find truth within myself. Though this truth is only the shadow of a lie, even shadows have a source in light.

It's true. It's very easy to degenerate into a beast for a while.

"Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god."
Did Aristotle delight in solitude?
-------------------- A SHORT HISTORY OF MEDICINE:
"Doctor, I have an ear ache."
500 A.D. - "Here, eat this root."
1000 A.D. - "That root is heathen, say this prayer."
1850 A.D. - "That prayer is superstition, drink this potion."
1940 A.D. - "That potion is snake oil, swallow this pill."
1985 A.D. - "That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic."
2000 A.D. - "That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root!"

Blewmeanie, who's your avatar, what kind of outfit is he wearing, and what is the meaning of his hand being placed inside his robe?

... or what is the sound of one brain clapping ?
-------------------- ===========================
Always pinch NEVER pull....
"Shamanism that is specifically rooted in the kind of experiences that are induced by psychoactive plants ... is an area that our society is extraordinarily phobic and nervous concerning, and the reason I think is not far to seek. Because modern institutions depend on the transmission of a certain world view and then willing acquiescense in the truth of that world view by the populations into which it is being exported. In other words a kind of cultural brainwashing is necessary for modern cultures to work at all. The consequences of the acceptance of this situation of brainwashing is further acceleration toward catastrophe."

BTW, you didn't answer my question. Do you believe that Aristotle (to whom that quote is attributed) delighted in solitude?

How do you know a beast is "delighted" in solitude. Or a god for that matter?
