I know of a friend of a friend who is a Mormon, never tried smoking weed or drinking before, and went straight into acid. He loved the experience.
It was really strong acid, too. He had 2 or 3 hits on a sugarcube. I had the same 2 hits from the same guy and I was freaking out a little, even with all my tripping experience.
I say, the less substances you've used before you try tripping, the more profound of experiences you can have. Good or bad. Just make sure he's in a comfortable setting and don't try and wig him out

I have only introduced one of my friends into psychedelics we both took LSD. He took 1 hit, decent acid so he got some visuals nothing too crazy tho. He said that he was glad to have had the experience, but wouldn't do it again. He is also an avid weed smoker.

Last time i tripped lucy, there was a newb with us who had NEVER done ANY drugs, not even alcohol. She got slapped in the fucking face HARD by our pal lucy, to say the least. Completely lost her mind. (not in a good way)
In retrospect, she shouldnt have eaten an ENTIRe hoffman, as they are reallllllly strong.
She hasnt been the same since.
be careful man, your treading on thin ground giving a newb a drug that is completely undescribable/irreversable once its begun. Tottally altered my trip and made it way more difficult.

Shroomie Glen brings up a good point. OP, make sure your friend is educated on the subject and has a general idea of what will happen. If you've never done anything other than alcohol or caffeine and you think LSD will be similar to those at all then you will be in for a tough ride.
That being said I do not think it is necessary to have prior experience with Cannabis before progressing to psychadelics. My reason for this is that the early pioneers in the field of psychadelics such as Dr. Albert Hoffman (RIP)did not smoke weed before takind LSD. And he seemed to handle it alright.
Just make sure you educate your friend, don't just be like "Dude take this you'll get really fucked up!" Not that you would or anything but just make sure your friend knows what he's getting himself into.

I think an important thing to do, if you're going to dose someone, is to explain to them thoroughly what they will feel, and what the drug is doing to their awareness. Simply saying they're going to get "really high" is not a good way to describe a trip. More like, it's a drug that manifests your thoughts and makes them near reality. It changes space-time for the duration of the trip to unexpected proportions. Your thought of what carpet looks like in everyday life, would look like swirling soup when you're on LSD, etc. Everything takes on new meanings, shape, etc...so give them a chill environment, an experienced tripper, and the most important thing, KNOW what to say to them, when they start freaking out. Also, low dose is key...

i think i can kinda agree with this.
i mean the actual headstates of weed and psychedelics are more analogous than alcohol and psychedelics, but think about it:
when you're really drunk, there are a lot of similarities with tripping too hard. you may not know who you are, you may perceive friendly entities with hostility, your emotions can swing in a second and can get out of control, you can feel out of touch with your body, etc.
when you're high on weed, you just get a trippy headspace. you get happy and hungry and maybe a little paranoid, but when was the last time you had a bad weed experience? alcohol is at least like psychedelics in that it can go horribly wrong.

I introduced my friend to mushrooms before he had ever smoked weed. He had an incredible time and loves mushrooms to this day. this was years ago so ill ask him sometime how he felt about the whole thing at the time.

I had a good friend who absolutely freaked out both times she smoked weed. She couldn't handle the change in thinking.
Smoking weed once may not prepare you for a trip, but it will be a good indicator as to whether or not you will be able to handle a trip.
Did she ever try tripping? I've met a few people who react that way to weed, but love to trip. I don't think a freakout reaction to weed necessarily indicates that the person won't be able to handle psychedelics.

She's never tripped before. Probably wouldn't be a good idea at this point, as her fear of losing it again very well might set her up for a bad time. Maybe it would have been better for her to try tripping before smoking weed.
