so I found this puff ball on someone?s lawn today.

Its still fleshy and is not rotting

Is it worthwhile or should I let the cats play with it?

To find out, you need to cut it in half. If the inside is solid, white, and there is not a cap and stem (on other words, it's not an Amanita button) then it's probably OK. It should be more than 4 inches wide, and it should have been found on the ground (not wood) and not in a cluster.

If all that's true, then slice it up, bread it, and fry it. It looks like a Giant Puffball (Langermannia gigantea), although your photo is out of focus and I can't tell how big it is.

Nice find.

Happy mushrooming!
