After a few days of shitty weather all your food goes bad, I doubt bushmen have battery backups. It actually seems like a better idea for developed countries or at least for people who have a way to supply current in the event of bad weather.

Bold claim. First we need to figure our how much of man's greenhouse gas output is from refrigeration units, which could be done. Secondly we need to know how much of global warming is due to man's greenhouse emissions, which is not known at all. Making a complete guess, Id say refrigeration units are negligible on climate change.
I think they use this design on nuclear subs because they are quieter, not sure though
-------------------- Behold yon miserable creature. That Point is a Being like ourselves, but confined to the non-dimensional Gulf. He is himself his own World, his own Universe; of any other than himself he can form no conception; he knows not Length, nor Breadth, nor Height, for he has had no experience of them; he has no cognizance even of the number Two; nor has he a thought of Plurality; for he is himself his One and All, being really Nothing. Yet mark his perfect self-contentment, and hence learn his lesson, that to be self-contented is to be vile and ignorant, and that to aspire is better than to be blindly and impotently happy.
