John McCain says our Economy is Strong

This on the country's worst economic day since the wake of 9/11. The Dow fell 500 points, one of the oldest major banks collapses, and this imbecile thinks that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong." How on Earth are you Repubs not seeing just how terrifying the prospect of a McCain presidency is? His own economic adviser said that neither he nor Palin could run a major corporation.
Here's the comment
And here's him putting his foot in his mouth
This is gonna be a good week for Barack I can feel it.

We always hear that although there are significant downturns as of late, the economy's 'fundamentals' are strong. Fuck, even Stephen Harper is saying it.
Has any of these politicos ever elaborated on what these 'fundamentals' are, and what evidence there is to suggest they are as strong as ever?

Plus you want to talk taxes? Look at this
Quote:
For starters, the McCain health plan would treat employer-paid health benefits as income that employees would have to pay taxes on.
“It means your employer is going to have to make an estimate on how much the employer is paying for health insurance on your behalf, and you are going to have to pay taxes on that money,” said Sherry Glied, an economist who chairs the Department of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

Don't these two clowns know anything? You can't raise taxes to pay for your newfangled government ops like Fatherland-Security and Offices of Faith-Based Initiatives (and brutal, brutal war)....
You just deficit spend! Let the next administration/generation worry about it!

John McCain has received $298,000 dollars from Merrill Lynch who was bought out yesterday by Bank of America. This doesn't prove anything.

When I see him I'll thank him for the additional $4,000,000,000,000.00 worth of debt, too.

yes it does prove something. proves that obama the same as all of them. and to blame this market on government is silly. like government would run wall street any better? look alot of people got greedy and took advantage when they could. Now it's time to pay up and we need to let the market do its thing.
And for the war cost, you rather rebuild our cities or bomb theirs?

False dichotomy. It isn't as simple as one or the other.

Utter nonsense, and a crude attempt to change the argument.

ok then what would cost more? another 9/11 or carpet bombing a village? it is that simple. No not trying to change the topic; you pointed out the cost of the war. but militry only cost us 6% of our buget. but goverment earmarks alone this year has well over 8% or more of US budget.
So raising taxes to "show the rich" like obama wants will roll down hill to me. And well make things worse before the market is fixed.

Once again, false dichotomy. It's not one or the other; it could just as easily be neither.
