Black Poplar and Lions Mane
    #8930475 - 09/14/08 08:25 PM (2 months, 19 days ago)

Here are a couple small grows i did. Both species are on eucalyptus mulch. the black poplar is cased with a casing mixture given to me by mushbox a while back. The black poplar spent a night in the fridge, the herecium did not.

The lions mane seems to have stalled. the fruit has been that size for maybe 5 days now and hasn't developed teeth. The agrocybe seems to be doing well though.

Nice! You don't see too many grows of either species. What are the fruiting temps they're in?

That lion's mane clump looks remarkably like a cauliflower, but those Agrocybe pins are so cute!

Well the highs around here are about 92-95ºF, the lows around 75ºF. These guys are sitting in my porch so they dont get very much direct sunlight. I havent actually measured the temp in my porch but it is considerably cooler than out in the sun.

Those are surprisingly high temperatures for lion's mane to fruit in. Perhaps that is why it has stalled?

Looks great Waxingren.

While we are in the subject of Hericium i'd like to add my current Hericium grow which is Hotnutz's strain on alder/bran block. Three day sequence. High is 78, Low of 72  Humidity fluctuates  beetween 85%-95%

They look good lipa. Is that only three days since primordia formed? That's a good strain of lion's mane. My LC is still growing!

Three days since the first pic. First pic was from day 2.

Yeah! Hotnutz (so dirty)  said it was a good one and It sure looks like it is going to be. Can't wait to eat it.

Aha, that's still pretty fast. I bet you can't wait! It's my number one desired edible to try eating and it's taking forever in the making. It'll only taste better as a result.

Those poplar mushrooms look wicked waixingren, really nice nice grow.

They are growing way faster during the cool night. I notice the growth more night to morning than from morning to night. Heat will slow them down a little.

Really, there is that much of a noticable difference? Maybe I should get them out of my heated grow room. Oops!

thats probably what happened to mine. I'll maybe try indoors with a humidity dome next time for the lions mane.

Last few weeks were in the 80-82F in my room. The bags grew slowly in there. I moved them to a closet of mine that stays at about 76 during the day and placed them on the floor. They picked up speed and colonized very well.
