Hopefully, if the weather holds out, Im going to be doing my first log innoculations this week. The plan is as follows:
2 x Oak - Maitake 1 x Sycamore - Trametes 1 x Sycamore - Reishi 1 x small sycamore - Hericium 2 x small Walnut - Hericium
That will let me keep back some dowel spawn from each type for some cardoard spawn experiments and maybe some indoor grows.
The dowel spawn is from FP. My query is about the logs. They are all 4-6 months old (from cutting) - have been kept clean & pretty dry. Do you reckon it would be a good idea to soak them for 24hrs first prior to inoculation?
Any other warnings? Ive got plans to do a spring inoculation next year with wood that is a bit fresher. Unfortunately this dowel spawn is going to get past it fairly soon so needs to go somewhere!
