1st grow! Pics

Woohoo! I didnt think I would get this far so successfully. 24+ half-pints /w no contams, and I was expecting them all to fuck up.
With all hobbies that are new to me, I went all out, and ordered 9 syringes: PC B+, PC Brazil, PC Puerto Rico x2, Cana Cyan Hawaii Big Island, Treasure Coast, PC Creeper, PC Star Gazer, PC Penis Envy.
Pre-inoc: I decided to go with the MMGG tek. My 1st BRF substrate I mixed shitty and the BRF was clumpy amongst the vermiculite, but the mycelium didnt seem to care, lucky me. I packed the jars loose; I liked the thought of speedy colonization. Packed in the .5" of dry verm, caped em, and threw em in me pressure cooker. My cooker is small so it only fits 2 stacks of 4. At the time I didnt realize it was ok to stack, so I only did 4 jars at a time. In all my anxiousness I cooked em for a quick 20 min. I was so antsy that I didnt even let the jars cool properly, I manually let the cooker steam out slowly till psi=0 and put em in the freezer for 20 min.
Inoculation: After guessing they were cool enough, I prepped for inoc. I used those Germicidal Disposable Cloths they use in the hospital and a jumbo can of Lysol to sterilize all my gear and environment. Went for B+ only this round, figuring it would be best to use a robust strain for this noobs shoddy 1st grow. With 4 holes per jar, I lit the needle tip before every single insertion. I put em in a box when I was done and just sat there, staring at them, for days... haha, not really, I did think about them all the time tho.
So, for the next 4 days, I packed, steralized, and inoculated the rest of my jars. Albeit they were made a billion times better than the 1st 4: I used my bathroom as a clean room, I sterilized the jars for 1 hour, I waited 4-5 hours before removing jars from the cooker, in my substrate mixings I make sure to do the vermec and water 1st then slowly stir in the BRF. Two of the jars from my 1st batch had 2 dead sides each, Im almost positive its because it was too warm on those sides and it killed the spores, lesson learned.
Next came the worst part, waiting. Just waiting to see the 1st lil white spot was TORTURE, especially when you dont even think its going to work. But then, one by one, they started to develop. Progress! I was so happy, but there was more work to be done while they were doing there thang: the FC.
The FC I designed is 3 parts effective, 1 part cool looking, and 2 parts WAY too fucking much for such little space.

It took LOTS of duct tape and painters plastic tarp to make. Its simply a 3 level shelving unit surrounded in plastic tarp with a fleece sweater zipper for an opening. On the side is a cool mist humidifier with its own output chamber that fills up and slowly leaks into the main chamber. I modded the cool mists intake with a plastic chamber connected to the bottom of the main chamber to make a closed circuit airflow. Basically the already humid air is sucked into to cool mist and made more humid, totally necessary for this setup cuz of how much open space is inside.
Finally, my favorite, is the bubbler swamp I made at the bottom. I used a 12" bubble rod, an air pump, a 4"x12" aluminum baking pan, water, fish tank gravel and perlite. The air gets pumped thru the bubble rod and floats up thru the gravel and water where it meets the surface laced in perlite. So many bubbles! To boot, this whole swamp unit is placed under the cool mist intake chamber. Thats fresh humid air going straight thru the cool mist and back. SO, I stay at a steady 90-93% humidity /w temps at 21o-23o Celsius and constant fresh air. Also I went ahead and made damp perlite beds for every level of the shelving unit. I am using little florescents for lighting.
That was fun , but a lot of work and $$. I guess my only explanation for such an elaborate FC is that its creation killed pretty much all the time it took for some of the cakes to fully colonize and also I tend to get creative with stuff. From now on tho, if I need to expand, I think ill just stick to a bubble rock setup in a large plastic storage bin /w perlite. The amount of room between the cakes is slim but I think they will manage, what do you think guys?

Currently I have 12 cakes in my FC: 4x B+, 4x Big Island, 3x star gazer, 1x penis envy. 2 of the big islands are going NUTZ in there; very furry. The rest look pretty good, with the exception of 1 or 2 that are taking there time on fluffing up. I dunked&rolled a few and a few I didn't to compare. One of the cakes went blue as a smurf so I dunked it and now its pearly white again, I'm glad I fixed that problem.
Some of them should be pinning in a few days, I'm so excited!
At the moment I am working on loading up more jars and Im making plans on casing trays for my next round. I prolly use the MMGG and crumble my cakes into a tray.
Im so down for some good advice, so throw em out there if you have any. Thanks all.

no advice here! looks like your doing good so far.
-------------------- Psilocybe Cubensis
Psilocybe comes from the Greek root "psilos" meaning bald head and Cubensis because it was first recognized as a new species from specimens collected in Cuba.

No need to space your cakes. Some of the best cake grows I've seen were done by Fahtster. He liked to keep his cakes close together. I think his theory was that it helped keep the humidity up around the cakes. This is one example of a post I found:

He had some better ones, but many of his pics have been deleted from those posts.
