I'm colorblind as well blue/purple orange/red green/brown, im basically completely "shade blind" as i can see colors just can't tell them apart. And when im trippin it feels as if i can tell the differences more clearly. However, I went online and brought up a color blind test to see if it was all in my head and it turned out it was. I still failed every test miserably. I know we obviously have different conditions, but maybe you might wanna google a color blind test and see for yourself before going to a neurologist.

I am in the same situation as you.
I haven't taken a test while tripping, interesting to see it had no effect though.

I believe the original poster did take some tests and passed them all 100%

i have a friend who has experienced something similar.

he had only ever tripped once (LSD) with me.  he rarely smoked weed but i smoked him out a little while later and he had a quasi-flashback to his trip in which he said he could finally see the color green.

he has since birth been colorblind to red/brown and yellow/green.  I remember him calling me on his drive home and saying "I finally know what people are talking about..the color green.."

I always thought that it was very interesting; it's definitely cool to see that it wasn't a unique experience.

heres an email i got back from Dr. Rick Strassman about the issue.

Dear ________:

Thank you for your note.

I've not heard of a case like yours.  Very interesting.  I think what you
describe is worth being written up in a case report in a medical journal of
some sort or another, as it has big implications for visual perception.
We'd need a more formal assessment of your ability to perceive colors,
though - at first thought I'm not sure how to do this.  It would have to be
discreet of course.

Where do you live?

Best,

Rick Strassman

: i edited out my name, sorry guys

Wow, that's pretty awesome, especially if a legitimate medicine for the treatment of certain forms of colorblindness could be developed because of this.

well lately me and Dr.Strassman having been emailing a lot and weve found a few doctors on the east coast that are willing to try some tests and evaluations on me. He said this is the first case hes ever heard of. I hope maybe out of all this, i could maybe fix my colorblindness for good. I never really appreciated seeing in color as a child but recently after tripping and then all of a sudden this rush of everything i had lost comes back and it honestly makes me happy but sad at the same time and for a few hours i was normal, i would go outside in the woods and lay down on the green grass and look up in the sky and see blue, i could paint pictures and wouldnt even have to ask for help in which color to use.

Wow that's really cool if this is true, which so far it sounds like it is. More so because I wouldn't expect to hear this kinda thing first on the shroomery.:smile:

Well today i talked to a local researcher(actually a 100 miles away from home), along with Dr. Strassman, and we plan to start gathering information and possibly start testing next week actually. They both sound like this is very promising and could help in a big way with psychedelic research and in the medical field. Wish me luck guys!
