How old does the peyote have to be?
    #8884627 - 09/05/08 10:45 PM (2 months, 27 days ago)

-How old does a peyote cactus have to be to make you trip? Where does it start? 15 years, 20 years? What?

-Can I eat a whole bunch of 2-3 cm sized cacti?

---I alreadt know about San Pedro & Peruvian Torch an others, but that is not the question so don't reply me with that kind of answer.

-How old must it be -OR- can I eat alot of baby ones?-

They need to be at least 5 or 6 years old to have significant alkaloids, and really older than 10 for it to be worthwhile.

When growing the Peyote, when it is old enough you slice the 'button' off at soil level, and another (usually more than one) takes it's place. So you're not really killing it.
