ive heard many things about uvb light being benificial in the formation of trichomes in cannabis
a guy did an hps grow, then with identical genetics, he did an hps grow supplemented with uvb lizard lights, he took microscope pictures of the trichomes, and the ones with the uvb were somewhat more robust

dont worry man, cultivation skills are something you learn, not born with. Everyone makes silly mistakes in the beginning, lol
That bulb may get them through the winter, but I would invest in at least one more.

some people say the plant builds up thc to help protect form the UVB radiation. so i have read, never tried it myself.
sniffy. the more light the better....but because they are lophs, and its winter, they shouldn't really stretch cause they are slow growers and its sleepy time....so even slower growth. if that was their light for the summer, you would be kind of fucked. but as a temp, it will keep them alive
dont water.

I thought the THC was to catch male pollen ???? And once it is pollinated it stops producing THC. also Violet is the opposite of green. The green in a plants leaf sucks in the violet spectrum of light to produce photosynthesis. When a plants leaf turns Violet it will block out that light. A uv light is in the violet spectrum. The standard UV light doesn't have enough power though. Maybe if they made a high wattage one.

No the THC is to protect it from being eaten by herbivores, thats why stressing a plant is also supposed to cause the plant to produce more THC. well that was the theory about 4 years ago. I haven't done much research for a long time, so the theory might have changed.
sniffy, the closer your light is to you plant the better, your light produces very little heat so you can keep your plants real close, almost touching them.

the green in the plant (chlorophyll) "sucks" in both red and violet. violet is one end, red is the other and green is in between. the caretenoids are often yellow-orange-red and they therefor can absorb green light, but they do not make up the bulk of the plant, that's why you only see it when leaves are dieing and the chlorophyll dies and the caretenoids are left (like a maple tree in fall).
UV light is no tin any of the visible spectrum, its not visible...its past the violet spectrum (100-400 Nm). black lights only look blue because they often have filtered glass. they make things glow, but not shine blue...that's a whole other reason for that.
but there are lights that do shine UV and violet light, especially aquarium tubes. i would think those are the suckers to buy if you want to play with it
