One man's missing leather coat led to his arrest Saturday morning in Cleves.
According to court records, Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies were conducting an investigation. Francis Earl Garfield, of Strongsville, OH was wanted as a part of that investigation.
While they couldn’t find Garfield, they did find a black leather coat.
When deputies caught up with Garfield, he asked about a leather coat. The deputy brought him to the coat and asked if that coat was his. He said "Yes".
Police allegedly found a small amount of white powder in the coat and along with a marijuana pipe, marijuana inside a container.
Garfield was arrested and charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning.

?? The coat was not in his possession. Anybody could have placed those illegal items in it. As long as he didn't admit to doing it himself, there is no case against him. (Fingerprints might work against him...)

Especially if the coat was stolen.
FWIW, the police could have planted the stuff at any time when they were not in full view of cameras.
It also comes to mind that he never gave police permission to search the coat, and no warrant was mentioned.

-------------------- "Freedom means being in control (either as an individual or as a member of a SMALL group) of the life-and-death issues of one's existence; food, clothing, shelter and defense against whatever threats there may be in one's environment. Freedom means having power; not the power to control other people but the power to control the circumstances of one's own life. One does not have freedom if anyone else (especially a large organization) has power over one, no matter how benevolently, tolerantly and permissively that power may be exercised. It is important not to confuse freedom with mere permissiveness."

Maybe he just really wanted his coat back...

Well, I certainly feel safer knowing this dangerous drug abuser is behind bars.
