5000 years before JC, celtic people, pagans, they had nature as their GOD.
From nature they had food, inspiration and spiritual awakening.
They respected the earth, they cut the trees, then planted again.
Than, they moved from an area, not to overstress the land.
They used plants to cure the body and soul. They found themselves being gods and godesses, because we are part of the earth. From it we come and to it we go.
There was no hell and heaven, there was the Nature acting on humans.
They were bad and good, and so is the Nature.
Try yourself to be out on a thunderstorm and see how Nature is stronger than anything else.
So ironic, That same force, you have it in yourself.

So what happend that people forgot all this.
Nature is your source of life, u have good stuff and bad stuff from it.
Why humans see themselves apart from it.
And God, a male figure that judges and is always apart from you.
You and just you can judge your actions.
YOU, will feel the reactions of your actions.
It's simple, what you do, simply come back to you.

Paganism has its attractions for me, but it's lost some of its power now that technological developments such as the nuke can easily outshine earthly Nature.

Mermaid, I think you make a very good point, especially from the way things look these days. But as tempting it is to compensate for the majority of humanity, I think it is important to not ourselves become stuck on nature. Our existence is defined by our nature, but just as well it is defined by our NEED to transcend ourselves. Granted we could learn alot from our much forgotten naturalistic past, but we cannot revert upon ourselves and run from innovation.

The atom bomb is humanity harnessing nature. Atomic collisions resulting in much more massive explosions than any human can conceive happen every millisecond in the sun, and any star in the universe. Earthy nature is a very limited view of what nature is. As sealorcawhale said 'universal nature' is the only nature I believe exists. There are whether patterns on Jupiter that are much more massive and devastating than any storm we have here on earth, but its the same thing we have just on a larger scale.
As far as Paganism goes I've never really looked into it but it sounds interesting.

by Earthy Nature I meant us, here, humans dealing with other people, relationships, u and me, humans.
Not even considering the big picture, but the small picture and how it affect us right now.
We re having the earth response right now to what we have been doing all these years. Not even thinking about other planets, but here, now. Present time.
Future time is gonna be hard for next generations.
But apart from nature destroying, important thing is the conciousness of how we see nature. I live in one of the biggest cities in the world,
and we have a huge river crossing it, very polluted.
What if I call this river a Goddess/God...., would people still be able to throw shit at the river?

there is little we have done, outside of polluting soil and water, that wouldn't have happened anyways; we've just sped up the process. it took me a while to realize that most of our actions are very natural, despite how unnatural/horrific they may seem. we are an animal trying something for the very first time. the way we live, it's all an experiment, if you will, in the perpetuation of our own species (likely even evolution); no other species, that we have record of, has tried what we are trying and on such a large scale

yes, because it doesn't (or rarely) matters what an individual/group thinks concerning spiritual matters, so long as their is a gov't supported/endorsed/enforced religion in place
