Melatonin (an OTC tryptamine) as a medium additive?

Okay, Im no chemist, but Ive read that mushrooms will 4-hydroxylate any tryptamine, not tryptophan, as mentioned in many other posts.
Since MELATONIN is n-Acetyl-5-Methoxytryptamine, I thinks we should get 4-OH-5-MeO-Tryptamine? Correct me if Im wrong, but I sure hope thats what it is, cuz it has a nice ring to it. (again, not a chemist, but is that a pun?)
HOWEVER, it is important to note: Most melatonin pills contain only 300mcg melatonin. [Would, say 3mg (10 pills worth) become a decent amount of psilocybin, or would this require growing in like pure pill powder?] BTW, will magnesium stearate or croscarmellose affect medium? Other ingredients seem to be plant derived cellulose and a sugar (dextrose).
Input?

hmm...
not sure if melatonin would be a suitable substrate, may not get hydroxylated at all (enzymes tend to be selective). but let's suppose for a second it does.. is 4-HO-5-MeO-T even active?

the melatonin pills i have seen are usually 1-3 mg each not per 10 pills.

-Well, is melatonin even active? Like how you would do with a general OTC, eat a shitload and trip. Is that possible?

Melatonin is too large to pass the blood brain barrier.

yeah
makes me wonder why companies bother producing supplements like melatonin and GABA.
if melatonin has trouble passing the BBB, you know a freak compound like 4-HO-melatonin (assuming it's produced) will too

It's been tried in substrates with no discernible effects already. In fact, nobody but Gartz has been able to add ANYTHING to substrates to increase potency, and nobody that I'm aware of has been able to duplicate his results with tryptamines, which is one of the first rules of science.
I worked graveyard shift for many years, and had sleep problems as a result. In fact, five years after ending my graveyard shifts, I still have major sleep disorders. I can also say, as for my own body at least, melatonin had ZERO effect, and didn't even do the intended job of helping me sleep during daylight hours. As far as I'm concerned, it's snake oil. RR
