Palin: She Inhaled By Lisa Lerer
Aug 29, 2008
(The Politico) Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is known as a staunch social conservative. She's a life long NRA member, belongs to an anti-abortion-rights group called Feminists for Life and opposes civil unions.
But the self-proclaimed "hockey mom" had some youthful indiscretions.
Palin has said she smoked marijuana but didn't enjoy it and doesn't smoke anymore.
"I can't claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled,” she told the Anchorage Daily News in 2006.
At the time, marijuana was legal under Alaska's liberal drug laws.
A 1975 Alaska Supreme Court decision allowed adults to possess small amounts of marijuana for personal use. In June 2006, a law signed by then-Republican Gov. Frank Murkowski re-criminalized the drug. The American Civil Liberties Union later sued the state, alleging that the law violates Alaskans' state constitutional right to privacy.
Palin has said she doesn't support legalizing the drug, fearing the message it would send to her five children.

All these polititions that are so worried about the message that it will send to the children if we decriminalize or legalize marijuana should have their heads examined. This stuff is a medicine and so good for so many people. And besides, what about the message about alcohol and tobacco? They both kill millions of people and how many die from pot? NONE. Its time these idiots wake up and start thinking about the truth instead of what someone else might think about them for doing the right thing.

i feel that even though she believes that making posession criminal would send the wrong message to the kids, she is being rather hypocritical.
She found out, through trial herself that she didnt like smoking, which i believe, some people dont like to smoke. Though the people she smoked with probably did, and she probably still knows them, or wouldnt wish harm upon them, even though they smoked.
here is the point. By not letting her kids, and others, maybe not so much as kids, but more of adult aged people, try MJ in a positive environment she is really making them stupid, people truly learn by making mistakes, so if she didnt like it, fine, but just because she didnt doesnt mean that others dont find it pleasureable, and that to me is a sign of dictatorship/police state.

liberty
NOUN: pl. liberties
The condition of being free from restriction or control. The right and power to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing. The condition of being physically and legally free from confinement, servitude, or forced labor. See Synonyms at freedom. Freedom from unjust or undue governmental control. A right or immunity to engage in certain actions without control or interference: the liberties protected by the Bill of Rights.
GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH.
people should be informed and TRUTHFULLY eduacated about the substance they may choose to or not to consume but they should not be restricted from consuming them. unfortunately sensationalism and yellow journalism seem to hve gotten in the way of making this possible...
pfft she liked it, hell im willing to be shes smoked it relatively recently. however tell that to the masses and your signing a political suicide note. she hs a degree in journalism you think she doesn't know how that works.
If you want to let us burn Alaskas oil, why can't you let us burn some herb?

Slow down. Catch your breath. Reread the article. A good portion of the article text is all the egg-shell walking to insure the reader can surmise that she was only partaking while the drug was legal in small amounts according to AK state law.

This woman lying about her positions retroactively and compromising on her supposed social-convervative stances in favor of personal economic gain have given the GOP WWAAYY to much attention from the left and independent camps.
Why are we focusing on this obvious sideshow while there are real presidential nominees to consider? If this generation continues to bankrupt this country with it's greedy and irresponsible economic plutocracising, my generation is NOT footing the bill.
All our elders can just enjoy their fourth-rate nursing homes that they sanctioned in the period from 1980-2009. It's getting frustrating watching my tax money go primarilly to private contractors and politician's personal investments.
Though this may be a good place to note that Palin charged her constituents for accomodations that she took in her own home, as expenses. Think how rich she'd be after becomming president and trying something similar. She takes out McCain, it's the ultimate "Kill the partner/spouse, collect the insurance plan".
