Take it to square one: McCain supporters.

I am shocked at the fact that anyone (even Republicans, many of which do not approve of Bush) would want McCain in office, because it appears as if the McCain Presidency would be quite similar to the Bush Presidency. (The Bush administration has had historically low approval ratings, among Democrats and Republicans alike.)
So this is a shout-out to McCain supports:
I'd like to hear why you personally believe that McCain will help our government. (Getting straight to the point please and please do discuss current weaknesses/strengths in our current government.)

It's not that McCain is worth supporting, it's that Obama is worth opposing.
I've been a politics junkie since before Watergate, and I've closely followed every US election since 1972. I cannot recall an election with such a terrible choice, and after the Bush/Kerry choice of 2004 I never thought I'd say that. As difficult as it would have been to predict four years ago, the Dems managed to choose a candidate even worse than John Effin Kerry, and the Repubs found one worse than Bush. No matter who wins in November, by the end of 2009 people will be reminiscing fondly about the Bush years.
Both McCain and Obama would make terrible presidents, it's just that McCain will likely do less permanent damage to the country than Obama would, and the kind of damage he would do is more easily fixed once his term expires.

I see it the other way around. The Republicans don't deserve another chance. Anyone but McCain!

For once Pris, we are in agreement. Just because we take measures to protect ourselves does not imply that we are huddling in a spider hole afraid of our shadow. That is the argument of idiots. If there's a problem ignore it or you succumb to it's awesomeness. Daft crap.
I am not quite as disgusted with McCain as Phred. Not by a long shot. I trust him on judges, that he will do far more than Obama not to raise taxes, that he will resort to class warfare, that he will drag his feet on globullshit wormening until people realize An Inconvenient Truth is our generations Reefer Madness. Most importantly, that he will not inflict any more Ruth Bader Ginsbergs on the court.

Will he get spending under control, though? After the judges, I think that's easily the most important lasting domestic problem.

That is not within the President's power. Congress, which is currently controlled by Democrats, is 100% in control of the purse strings. 100%. All the President can do is veto tax hikes. We all know Barry will not only pass tax hikes but propose them. He has said as much. Bums win in Barry's America. Make no mistake, if you can't support yourself and don't have debilitating disabilities in this country you are a bum.

No, he can't. The line item veto was eliminated and the pork always comes inside of other bills which he has to either veto or sign unchanged.

True. Pretty tough to work that way though since the government will end up shut down. Not necessarily a bad thing but not workable in the long run.

Ok so this isn't working out. I have not learned a thing about why anyone support McCain.
So far this is all I've gained:
- McCain will keep taxes at a low. Which is not needed. We need to be taxed.
- McCain will choose shitty judges that will take away a woman's right to control her body, and keep the horridly expensive and ineffective "war on drugs" going.
- Obama would apparently damage the country, how is not addressed.

While we need to be taxed, we do not need to be taxed more. Anything that can be done but raising taxes can be done by cutting spending.

Barack Obama says he'll cut taxes on 95% of Americans.
Do you believe that?
