Yes yes, we should do this for each and every forum.... [/sarcasm]
I honestly don't see the point in giving this sort of recognition.... If a thread is hellagood, it is stickied, or you can toggle it as one of your favorites.... If you like a member's posts, give him/her good feedback.... Problem solved....

this would give credit to the folks that contribute better than others. lol, i dont expect people that aren't going to make it onto the list to support the idea...

This sounds like it would turn into a silly popularity contest. And as other have said, getting more views/posts on your threads doesn't necessarily mean that poster "contributes better than others". I think the system is just fine as-is.

Don't get me wrong, I ain't hatin' - I don't hate anyone, I just don't see the point in it....
Whether or not I was on the list would make no difference to me.... I come here for entertainment and to be part of it, not to be #1 while being entertained....
How would you vote....? And if it came down to a vote, how would it not be a popularity contest - which is what the feedback rating is for....?

i couldn't agree with you more
people, i mean silly attention seeking people, will just make more threads to try and be "top posters" this system would be as open to abuse as the thread rating system that was previously introduced, then discontinued...
imagine this scenario; a n00b posts an id request thread in the hunting forum and it causes alot of debate which recieves alot of replies and views... does that make them a top poster? i don't think so...
OP: we aint trying to hate on ya, but seems that the majority think that this is a waste of resources and time
i'm positive that ythan's highly expensive time would be better spent on other site improvements lol

lol, there wouldn't be a vote. the server here, would automatically record the number of times a page is viewed(maybe set it up so that it could only be once for each member) and the server would also record the number of replies to each thread, then add them together, and add them to the thread starters total. the server would do this for everyone on the entire board and then would list the people with the highest totals.
i sure there's a way it could be a little more organized than that, but it's just a starting point.
we'll have to see what Ythan thinks about it...maybe it's a worse idea than i think it is...

OK, that is different than what I was envisioning.... But, how would you separate out the post whoring (1-2 word responses x 1000) from the posts with actual "meaning" (1-2 posts with 1000 words)....?
Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder - which would apply in something like this.... Would you separate it even further with; the funniest, the most helpful, the most fun, the smartest, etc etc posters....?

Plus there's plenty of times where the original post is lame, but one of the responses brings the thread to life. Who gets credit for that?
More importantly, who cares about e-cred? You'll just create more folks like this guy -->

I guess we could have a rating system for individual posters. If they make a good thread or a good post to a thread, you could rate them, say a 5 mushroom rating for example. If they did a bad post you could give them one mushroom, or maybe even zero mushrooms

isnt that what the general rating is for?

hey!@ I once had a thread about aliens.. that was like 90 pages long and had like 40k views or something, I should totally win this contest. but that was like 7 years ago so it probably doesn't count..
I had a giveaway thread in the Mush cult that ran for near 2 months, 146 pages and I dont remember the # of views/replies... but it was like 20,000 something views or more and near 3000 replies
