Look up ahead of the car in front of you, cuz you can tell if there is going to be a need to brake, i.e. stopped cars up ahead, stop sign, red light, et cet.
Also, does anyone else know women that can not use street names and directions (NSEW)?
This girl goes to college from home several times a year on this road, and she was asking me how to get to a town. I was like, take I-xxx W and get off at this exit.
She's like "what's I-xxx?" Holly shit? How do you get home? You don't know what the name of the road is you drive on all the time?
And of course she doesn't know if her house is east or west of the school somehow.....
I swear, women drive by landmarks and have no conception of direction.
Directions from my mom: Take that big road and take a left at the V, then you'll see a rock on the corner and take the next right... then some rose bushes will be on your left, and go through the next intersection but take a right at the house with green shutters.
WTF? Street names? Nope, doesn't know em, but can tell you every flower and rock as well as most house colors on the way....

A girl once gave me directions to her house and told me that she lived up the block and across the street from "the fourth of july house" I was like what the fuck is a fourth of july house.

I've witnessed ALL the bad driving techniques mentioned in this thread practiced by BOTH sexes. This, among many other reasons, is why I WALK! 
The last time I borrowed a car to run some errands, I narrowly avoided being hit by 5 different drivers in the 12 blocks or so I had to travel. Each driver was apparently either unaware of the rule about two bodies not being able to occupy the same space at the same time, or incapable of seeing my car due to their head being up their ASS! 
I had a Driver's Ed instructor who taught defensive driving, just as Jiggy did, and those lessons have prevented hundreds of accidents during the years I spent driving. The one accident I could not manage to avoid, the driver cut across a main thoroughfare right in front of me. I anticipated that she was going to do this, because I saw her inching into the crosswalk on the side street. Because I predicted that she would do what she shouldn't do, I ALMOST stopped my car without making contact with hers. As it was, I bumped her so gently that I didn't even wake up my son in his car seat.
I don't think that the issue of being a bad driver has much to do with XX or XY, but rather with the general lack of attention and consideration which many drivers exhibit. Tailgating, turning without signaling, speeding, talking on the cell phone or eating or ____ while driving, being lost in thought, cutting in front of other drivers, weaving in and out of traffic, accelerating wildly between stop signs/traffic signals, endangering bicyclists and pedestrians by turning against the light, etc... are all practiced by both sexes.

If I am envisioning your example correctly, it is the fault of the smasher, not the driver of the stopped car....
There is a difference between "fault" and "not taking the umpteen million precautions for someone else's possible fault"....
One time my car got hit in a parking lot when I wasn't in it....
Does that make it equally my fault for not properly predicting that it could be hit by a careless driver....?
No, I parked my car the right way, and there was no way for me to make the other person pay attention....

My god... you just summed up every experience I've had riding in a car with a female driver since I was 16.
All the girls I've ridden with drive like this. You just put the nail on the fucking forehead.
Even my girlfriend drives like this, constant braking/accelerating, following too close, blank look on her face after about the first two minutes of driving.
I'm always like, "RED LIGHT babe!", "Woah, back off that dude a little bit", etc.
I pay attention to everything when I drive, and I still notice shit off the road all the time. If there's a rabbit on someone's lawn, I see it. If there's a guy riding a lawnmower, I see him. If theres a weird smashed up looking piece of metal on the side of the road, I see it.
Then I'll be like, "hey babe did you see that monkey fucking a dog?" Invariably, the answer is, "what? No, I wasn't paying attention."
