another bump here. It really sucks that those seeds were slaughtered. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that sending seeds unprotected also is an opportunity to give away package contents when shipping between countries.

What a funny solution to even have a pun ready in efforts at being stealthy hahahaha.
I recently had some seeds sent my way that were entirely crushed when they got here. Ah well though...the sender knows now what to do

bump. another thought...labeling them seeds will get them looked at...and they may want some phyto certs. don't label packages as anything living.

This thread should stay stickied. If I dont tell everyone to send me seeds using bubble envelope theyl get smashed. IMO it should probably become a very known rule. I just recently got some smashed seeds from someone who i know is a good trader, only thing is I didnt tell him to use a bubble envelope, and look here.

20 Psychotria viridis seeds.
If you look at the top of the bag in the pic (which is really the bottom) youl see where they got smashed into the plastic.
Maybe even worth a sticky in the Marketplace.
This is the 4th time I have recieved crushed seeds in the mail.

i think that it is ridiculous that this thread ever needed to be posted... i mean it is common sense to protect seeds well in the mail, especially when trading stateside...

For small seeds, I always take those small dia crazy straws, the hard plastic ones, cut off a small length, like 2 or 3 inches or so, melt one end closed, fill with seeds, then melt the other end closed. Never had any seeds crushed in shipping, and I've been doing this awhile...

I am about to get 200 plastic vials (5mL) with lids. Its about $20 after shipping. I sent some seeds off wrapped in bubblewrap. The shit still got smashed. Maybe I should get a fragile stamp. Its the first time I've ever had this problem.

Yeah bic pens are good, but I tend to give way, sell, or trade, LOTS of seeds. I think 5mL vials are about 6 cents apiece. Anyway for now, I am using Duck brand padded envelopes. Expensive, but they work great.
I sent out several packets of seeds wrapped the same way the one that got smashed was. A freak ocurrance I guess.
