If I were to try to use something like Erowid's trip reports to identify drugs, I would hardly be able to tell diphenhydramine from psilocin.

guruu, I've read that link. That's about people who knew they had LSD in their possession (it came from a commercial chemical supplier), took said LSD and experienced what was consistent with 'street acid.' I would say that means that LSD produces an experience with familiar effects.
This does not mean that it is impossible for another drug to seem like LSD. This does not mean that someone who takes unknown substance X and declares that it is LSD, because it produced an experience like acid, is anywhere near to being right.
If you're so sure that you're right? Would you be willing to put energy into actively and genuinely trying to show that you're wrong? If you actually were right, then you simply would not be able to show yourself wrong.

You know whats funny, people who have been taking lsd for years know when its lsd, unless they have been taking rcs and shit for that long.
Ya, its a stupid argument.
For example.
If you take 4 hits of super strong gel tabs and you can feel yourself coming up really fast at the 15 min mark, its lsd, and especially if it "what do you know", feels exactly like the majority of lsd you have taken.
Real lsd starts to come on (a bit, or more than a bit even)in about 15 min if you take a huge dose.
Dudes, there are people out there that know for damn sure what lsd feels like.
I mean, there are people on this site that honestly cant say they see the difference between lsd and mushrooms.
That kind of kills the debate.
I have taken lsd many times and known for certain after 1.2 hours or so if it aint lsd.
Its happened about three times, rc's that is.
BTW
Those rc's really dont feel all that much like lsd to most experienced observers and they sure dont come on the same.
2c-x's dont feel ANYTHING like lsd.
Dob and shit maybe a bit closer to lsd but the lifespan of the trip is very different.
Lsd acts a certain way, and some people can give you a full proof guarentee if its lsd or not.
Im not just talking about sensitive individuals either.

Some people know.
All it takes is experience, some reasoning, and a bit of reading.

Ya lsd is a good friend of mine.
I know its fingerprint by heart.
Just like mescaline, ayahuasca, or mushrooms.
Cant fool me with those plants, and ya cant fool me with rcs either.
I just know too much about this shit and have used the dominant force found on blotters too many times.
Thats how a non-noob knows the difference.
When a serious psychonaut takes an rc on a blotter, they know it within about an hour.
They roll with it too, discuss the obvious differences etc.
Nothing works like lsd, and thats how some people know.
