Mountain finds
    #8674635 - 07/24/08 12:52 AM (1 month, 6 days ago)

Found these during a brief stroll in the woods today.  No spore prints.

I think these are Daedaleopsis confragosa?  Found on dead Ponderosa Pine trees.  Forgot to look at gills.

These were growing on live Ponderosas. No gills or stems.  Weird, deformed.

These on dead ones.

And this is the only one that wasnt on a tree it was on the ground with pine needles, bark, and rotten aspen leaves.  Stem is white.

So yeah I think the pics speak for most of the physical descriptions.  Didnt really check for bruising.

Nothin special but im spending more time up there tomorrow looking for gyms particularly.

The conks (second group of photos) look close to Fomitopsis pinicola, a very common polypore.

We need to see the stem for those last ones.

Happy mushrooming!

Thanx guys, i went up today in hopes of gyms that I saw in the spring but there was nothing.  It just rained like a mother fucker.  Maybe too hot right now for them?
Its like 80 to 90 every day up there..

I dunno, its frustrating as fuck because i waitedso long for rain and then when it comes I cant find shit.  I just wish i knew they were gyms when i saw them the first time.  Maybe better luck in the fall.

80 to 90 degrees is not to hot for gyms to fruit. If (for the love of our dark lord Satan) you are going to consume any, wait until cooler temperatures arrive.Cooler temps mean higher potency IMO.

Good luck hideousbastard.
