What do you put in your WBS and h-poo/straw?

I've seen a lot of people write about putting additives in their WBS spawn or hpoo/straw sub. Has anyone seen a sustained improvement when using any of these additives (coffee grounds, gypsum, verm, perlite, etc.) I have used just WBS and hpoo/straw before with great success. Now I want to know if there is any way to get something better.

I think some have said that having a diverse substrate is a key to a good grow but as far as I know Hpoo/straw is the shiznat (sp?), and people only peruse other subs because they don't have access to Hpoo/straw.
For example coir is a common substitute for straw but It don't have enough nitrogen so coffee is used as an additive. Verm is added to more muddy subs so that air can get to the myc.
Though don't add perelite and do add gypsum if you feel like it at 5% because it balances PH (for multiple flushes and the extra nutes).
Straw tends to air the sub out and Hpoo is great for those other nutes so as far as I understand don't change a thing man you're in the right!

I like coco coir, and you can get that at any local pet store.

yea but straw/hpoo is the best even by people who have compared with isolated strains.

coir sometimes gets infected after maybe two flushes max for me. I really like to use oyster shell flour when its available to stabilize the pH. I use that, hpoo, verm, blood meal, and some coffee grounds. I will try gypsum instead of shell flour sometime and see whats up with that.

oyster shell flour is supposedly for altering the PH of casing material to prevent contaminants (a superior substitute for lime). Gypsum as I've read in researching it keeps casings/subs/soils to a neutral ph and between 8 and 3.5 if I recall properly It basically just is supposed to prevent ph swings.

depending on what results you are looking for.... insted of adding anything try a deeper substrate depth. as noted above hpoo&straw is considered the shit. with deep substrate you get larger fruits.
