Well I guess you never really know until it fruits. If the mycelium smells reishi you are good to go.

I'm not sure what resihi mycelium smells like. I'm pretty sure its clean mycelium. I'm just doubting the way I decided to fruit them. Either I have alot of small ones starting to form or I'm gonna end up with a reishi blob.
Got any pics of resihi pins?

You might ask Lipa about the pins. Lipa's got some growing at the moment and has been taking a lot of pictures along the way.

Quick Update. Not much has changed.

There are some weird spots. Seems to be small drops of metabolites encased in myc web balls. You can see a few in the picture if you look for them.

I should have my camera back tomorrow. Then I'll be able to take pictures of my reishi. I'll post when I can. (just barely beginning to form fruits)

Haven't you added any antibiotic to the agar?
Thanks, Fabio

No antibiotic was used and I still got a clean culture the very first try. I simply used a piece of pore tissue from the center of the conk and wiped it across agar. Only one spot of germination ever appeared. I then transferred a piece of the new growth to a new plate.
The cake has a small spot which I think is the beginning of a fruit. I'll post a pic(s) in a bit.
EDIT:
Here's the updated pic.

The red arrows point to what seem to be fruit formations. Yellowish overall but the center is darkening up.
The green arrows point to myc piss drops which are being covered with mycelium. This is how the "fruits" looked a week ago. They were drops that slowly got covered with mycelium then started yellowing, then darkening.
The blue arrow points to a myc piss drop that is no yet covered in mycelium.

I now have a definite pin starting. The previous spots I thought were fruitbodies don't seem to be growing. I noticed a growth near the edge of the container that started to stretch slightly and is turning a bright yellow color. Starting to get that shine to it too. I'll take a pic of it in a few days once its big enough for a decent photo.

Blimey, those are indeed fruits beginning to grow. You should see elongation and broadening within the next few days to a week (to the point of seeing a more recognizable "reishi" shape).
