Sobral over Whitehead. Mike has no asset in the standup over Babalu. Sobral always has trouble against good standup guys because his takedowns just aren't very good.
ummm.... Sobral is one of the best wrestlers ever from Brazil....

Yep, just as good the next day.
Is Randy Couture old? How is Fedor NOT going to slaughter him?

Yeah Randy is pretty old, 44 now I think, but he's still one of the most intelligent fighters out there. I don't think he's going to beat Fedor, but I think he could give him a great fight.
Seeing Barnett KO Rizzo was my moment of the night, above any of the other great KO's or subs.
I liked seeing Arlovski look good standing up again against a good striker. No clue why he loves giving up position for half assed heel hooks though.
Personally I think Barnett should be next for Fedor but Barnett isn't really pushing for it right now so it'll probably be a while.

dude are u fucking crazy? andrei is a top 5 HW in the fucking world
do you think any top 5 boxing HWs are making ONLY a million? probably not
MMA needs boxing sized paydays. the UFC could provide them, but they are ripoff artists. UFC makes sooo much money off their PPVs and pay the fighters jack shit. THe UFC usually makes a higher gross from tickets than the entire fighter payroll.
affliction actually might break even with their production and they still paid fighters top dollar.
there is a reason why dana white rolls ferraris and lorenzo fertita is taking more control. the money the make off the backs of fighters is obscene.

I used to love arlovski, but I find him always boring to watch.
This is just personally, but I would like to see all the fighters risking a loss to win.
Playing it safe and grinding out a win is not what the sport should be about.
I mean if your all about the payday, which your right...isn't big at the moment, sure.

You totally misinterpreted what I was going for there. Of course I think the fighters should make more money, quite a few of my coaches would be in the UFC right now if that were the case and that would be a blast. Anyway what I mean is check out the rest of the payroll from that event.
Fedor - 300k Barnett - 300k Rizzo - 70k Lindland - 300k Young - 7k Lil Nog - 50k Belfort - 140k Rothwell - 250k
.... but Arlovski makes a million? That just doesn't make sense to me. I don't think they made that much off just his fight. We wasn't the main draw to the card and he didn't put on the most (although it was good) impressive performance. I'd be much happier if at least 250,000 of his purse were divided between the 5-10 lowest purses.

you have absolutely no clue about Brazil's wrestling scene.
Sobral struggles to takedown many fighters with subpar TD defense. Go watch his fight against aging Van Arsdale, Sonnen, and against Kevin Randleman
then try and tell me his takdowns are good.

You wouldn't know what i know, go do some research... Sobral is one of the best ever to come out of Brazil
and Mike Van Arsdale is a NCAA standout wrestler, and Kevin Randleman is a 2 time NCAA champion, and Sonnen was top 5 in the pac 10, how can you say those guys have sub par takedown defense...?
Babalu was Brazilian National Wrestling Champion.

Yeah dude those guys are all great American wrestlers. I don't think anybody believes Brazil is at the level America is as far as wrestling goes but still you can't judge his wrestling ability by those fights in particular.

Babalu was Brazilian National Wrestling Champion.
Do you even follow competitive wrestling in Brazil? Do you even know what weight class he competed in?
Or do you just simply regurgitate what you find on Wikipedia.
Have you any idea on the level of competition on Brazilian wrestling teams? Or even Olympic teams for that matter?
Do you even know about Rodrigo Artilheiro? I mean since you claim Babalu is one of the "best ever" to come out of Brazil. I wonder how you deduced that one...

Almost 70% of fighters in the UFC have wrestling backgrounds. If you struggled against fellow wrestlers who've already been taken down multiple times in other matches, then yes, your takedowns are sub-par.
But of course, if you're up against say, Cyrille Diabate, your takedowns are wonderous.
I'm still curious as to how you've managed to consider Babalu "one of the greatest" coming out of Brazil, when you can't even name the weightclass, or even the names of any of the opponents he faced during his career.
What's wrong, can't find it on wikipedia?

You can't judge his wrestling ability based on his fights against other wrestlers....that's basically what you're saying.
But that's the BEST time to assess the wrestling abilities of a fighter.
Just like how you really couldn't assess Liddell's standup untill he fought Rampage for a second time, or how you can't assess Sakuraba's submissions untill he fought Carlos Newton.
And just as we've already known, Babalu struggles against every other wrestler he faces.
Even when you watch him fight, i don't know how anyone can say his takedowns are all that good. Look at his technique and how much he struggles whenever someone pulls a sprawl or gets a single underhook.
Untill you've consistently outwrestled someone else with a decent wrestling background, you can't really be considered that great of a takedown artist from an MMA standpoint.
Babalu has yet to do, what Frankie Edgar was able to do against Tyson Griffin, or Randy when he fought Tito Ortiz.
