shaman is a word. shamans don't use concepts/definitions, thats how they go about their shamany business.

If that's true, then there can be no such thing as a shaman, because to be defined, the word must act as a pointer to something with parameters, or else it is everything in general and nothing in particular.

in essence there are no shamans anywhere except in our heads when we want to convey to other people what we are talking about. everyone's understanding of what a "shaman" is is a bit different from the person next to you. and for every discussion yes you must set parameters so you can specifically talk about a given subject or words dissolve into nothing, which they truly are.
what i am saying is that shaman is a concept in our heads, a label we impose on people who fit that label the most. if a person fits our mental description of a shaman that is what we talk about, forgetting often that other people see shamans in another shade.
point being we should not get stuck in words or definitions and get to the meaning "behind" shaman, like in this case.

What does a shaman do that a non-shaman doesn't do? Generally speaking, what makes a shaman a shaman?
I'm serious, I actually do want to know.

One cannot just decide that they want to become a Shaman.
Why do you claim this to be true?
You think you are born one, and do not like others using the same title? (My first guess.)
Mind the fact that the concept of being a "shaman", is used diferently, all over the world..

My ex's mom was into astrology, witchcraft, and romance novels. Turns out she wasn't a shaman, just a lonely housewife with a good imagination to keep her company while her husband worked two jobs.

tee hee i liked that video. schizophrenia is interesting, i wish they had a name for my disorder, they just wrote me off as someone thats too normal and just likes to fuck with peoples minds and have philosophical and spiritual circle jerks.
its interesting that one can exhibit temporary schizophrenia then cause mob mentally bringing about mass schizophrenia(what ever that is)
I really love what Mckenna says about a mad house, but they do kick you out if your not mad enough cause specially if your there on Charity care and they are constantly feeding you lorazepam.

Em ok, how is that supposed to be informative? You just claim something, but leave us completely in the dark why this would be the case... theres no intention at all to inform people in your post O_O
Anyway, I just decided I want to become a shaman, so your claim is already invalid. Maybe I will never become one, but the decision is definitly made :P

Shamans are transmuters of spirit and commune with the source.
As we are all part of the same source, we all have the potential to be Shamans.
It all begins with your intentions.

Word.
"we are all part of the same source" please everyone understand this, at the core of each of our being is the totality of all beings, we all share it...dont do anything to find this out, just recognize it as a simple truth.
