Classic.  Did you get any habitat shots?

No, i forgot to. Maybe ill go tomorrow and get sum i need to, so that the noobs can see the light. The wonderful thing about weilii habitat is that once you know what to look for its soooo easy to find new patches i think noobs make it out to be harder than it is.

Yeah, that's a good idea.  Habitat is key when you are looking for mushrooms.  Looking for Gyms?  Check out dead logs.  Want some Oysters?  Don't look on the ground.  Need some Morels?  Find the right habitat.  And so on.

Sometimes when I am looking for a specific mushroom, I look for the habitat first, then I look for the mushroom.  That is especially true if you are looking for mycorrhizal species.  We have large stands of Maples in some areas.  I don't go hunting for Amanitas, Boletes, Chanterelles, Russulas or any other mycorrhizal species there.  (Damned lucky to find anything there)

BTW weilii hunters please try and post as many pics of the best quality you can it really helps others. Habitat(i should talk:lol:)as well as macro shots of the mushrooms themselves are great, but please dont be specific about the area you found them in. Also respect the weilii habitat dont over pick, this is important.

Weilii don't grow where I live but I do think they are some of the coolest looking mushrooms, looks like there are some nice finds already. Keep it up

Great finds. They have such a good colour, that blue-silver.

Some ones lawn, i was at a 2 year olds bday party and went outside to smoke a cigarette and stumbled upon them. It was great there were all those and sum gyms about ten feet away on a dead pine tree stump. The lawn has tons of loblolly and lots of shade its also near water. Shaded spots are where its at right now, its too hot in the open and they get cooked very quickly. The two i posted above were in the open and the main haul was about 50 feet away in the shade.

They grow near the edge of the forest where its shady, in the open in the fall months when it cools down.
