Found four caps today, all medium size, one of them very smurfy blue...
Three days ago two caps, one large and one small...
I've found about 2 ounces in the past month... Still very small flushes, we need more rain... Found some growing right out of sand as well, a first... I've been hunting in the woods as well, lots of loblolly pines and sweetgums and another tree I haven't taken the time to identify that has rather large and curvy leaves... Usually the weilli are found in deep overgrown parts of the forest in the thick humid canopy of these trees, with pinestraw on the ground on top of georgia red clay, some shiny sandy loam in the clay as well... Seems very dense pine forests are the way to go... screw hunting in northern fulton, the cops are on to it and it's all out in the open there with the newly constructed landscapes and such... Seems you can do just fine finding your own spots and preserving your nerves... haha.
Weiliiiii, it seems the n00bs and narcs just wanna bust / rape all the spots, so they can profit from it in money in one way or another... Weilii are not about the money, they are about the experience and about the joy of eating something so fine and rare that is born from the earth as a GIFT to those intelligent enough to comprehend the mushrooms real identity... Good for you for calling out the haters, keep doing your thing, and keep your spots to yourself and to your CLOSE hunting friends...
To all those people trying to profit off the weillis, whether you're busting kids pickin or raping spots to sell them... go get a life. You can't stop this force, and you never will... This is natural, this is given to US, and nothing you can do will make us forget that we are blessed with this beautiful specimen whether you like it or not.

Yeah, my find this year have still been less than impressive... compared to my last couple of years picking them... At one point I had at least 2 pounds dry... But I gave them away to friends and "family"... ate some myself and gave to those less fortunate but intelligent and humble enough to enjoy them for what they were...
When me and phishhead met up, I was in primetime... Averaging hundreds of mushrooms a picking, but I was picking in some crazy spots that are too hot now...
I'll take some habitat shots of some other weilii territory, and we'll see if after some rainfall things will pick up...
I'm just weary of ever releasing too much info on anything, as the rapers are out there and trying to ID spots... (screw you guys!)
I've even found places to pick from vague pics of territories here on shroomery... a tree here, a tree there next to a landmark (something manmade), so when I do take pics they will be of the ground and such... Or of some caps in natural habitat from above shots... My picking spots differ, always trekking for new spots, but I also don't want to have a cam at the spot that does well for me... it's not private enough to feel safe... I'll try and get some shots for you though weiliiiiii, you've sure satisfied me with your own pics.... I almost feel obligated to pay you back, haha. Hope this message finds you peaceful and safe~

yo shifty, who cares if you only find a few at a time at least your finding them ...awesome finds man glad to see other people finding them. Your patch produces weilii that have very campanulated caps, they look cool. I used to have a patch about 4 years ago that produced mushrooms with caps like that, keep it up dude.

My girlfriend and I took an interest in mushrooms about 8 months ago. After hearing about weilii from a mutual friend we decided to try and find them for ourselves. We have the audobons field guide but no luck finding ANY good fruits. Can anyone give us any tips? We have walked in the woods numerous times scoping the ground for them-but have found about everything BUT them.

Use the seach engine dude...weilii habitat, weilii, official weilii threads look up something along those lines.

OK Weiliiii it looks like your tha man in GA. I go up to Ga about once or twice a yr and im intrested in hunting for some weilii any suggestions for hunting in tha fall over near griffin? Im thinkin an area like this

with success comes responsibility...this is true, but there are limits. Weiliiiiii was instrumental in helping me identify my first weilii and for this I am very grateful. I've never met the guy, but I know first hand that he is more than generous and helpfull in assisting those that are willing to put some effort into discovering the magic of this special mushroom. But let me just say for him, and forgive me for speaking up with no direct authorisation to do so, give the guy a break people. He has paid his dues over many years and done yoemans work to be where he is with his hunting. Don't miss the point of this forum. The wealth of knowledge here is incredible - everything you need to know to find weilii is here in the years upon years worth of posts. I felt kind of silly with my early posts thinking I found weilii when it was just pan foes, but there is a difference between noob enthusiasm and laziness. It's not even that difficult...but you will need to spend some time reading. Then you'll need to log some serious time with your nose to the earth. You may think that it's easy for me to say since I've found a few, but nobody talks about the hours and hours spent researching and hunting before the weilii showed themselves to me. Just like everything, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Don't rob yourself of earning what you get in life. If it doesn't cost you anything it can't be as special as if you accomplish it with your own effort. I don't usually write this kind of stuff, and I certainly don't mean to preach, but I can feel the pressure that's been raining down on Weiliiiiii and it's not right. He will help you...we will help you... but for godsake people...help yourselves.
