Those dont look like weilii that much, but maybe they are.

Get a spore print and try to get better pictures if you can, also you said you didnt notice any bruising, that is not normal for weilii.

Couldn't get a good one, but from what I can tell it's brown/purple. I forgot to mention that the stems are rubbery and pretty malleable  Alot of the mushies were dry before I found them, so some look a bit funky. I'll get a better picture of them when I get a chance to use a friend's camera.

Oh well. Guess it's back to the drawing board. So it's probably a Stropharia of some kind? It's taking me a while to find weilii on my own, but my time will come soon enough, I presume. Thanks for your help, guys!

Look hard you can see the mycelium

It really needs to rain, im afraid the season is going to be cut short because of the cold weather we are having now. I was told its supposed to be a cold fall and winter, i usually find weilii up until November or December, i hope it doesnt get too cold early and they all die off.

For sum reason i always find more in the late summer season.

suppose to rain tomorrow, texbook always isnt correct? temps45-80  prefering 65-75. Do you mean an early frost? or hard freeze might cut season short?thinking back on oct 4 1995 i was at a santana/jeff beck concert in the rain (of opal) and it was a cold rain at lakewood amp.  Mabey its aclimating to Ga. and fruiting earlier, and prefering slightly warmer temps??? i dunno??? i just wish it was more widespread, like cyans in PNW, but cyans have been around PNW longer than our p. weilii.

I remember finding them after freezes quite a few times.

I found these in mid december 2004, i remember they had frost on them and were practically frozen, some were also pretty wretched looking, completely stained black and with a nasty smell of bacteria.

Ive been told October is the driest month for GA, is this true?

I always remember having awesome fall finds, usually more than spring/summer, but now i find more in the early or late summer.

The latest i have found a weilii was December 15th, they were fresh but short and fat and incredible deformed.

According to Paul stamets Psilocybin mushrooms of the world weilii fruit in the fall, he doesnt even mention a spring/summer season.

I think that they lean to being more of a warm weather species, at least in my experience.

This is exactly why I oppose threads like these.  If you want a mushroom identified, creating a new thread is standard procedure.  I'm only peeking in here now because this was at the top and I was finished looking at the other threads.  I placed all the members who have started "official" threads on ignore to keep it from cluttering up my ID work.  Now their threads are invisible to me.

Yea i agree, although i havent found many in early spring, my friend has found them as early as march. I think Weilii and most psilo's explode with those tropical storms during the summer that bring high humidity and low barometric pressure, plus good storms that tear up that ground.

My best hauls were always after a tropical storm or remnants of a hurricane.
