Camping trip and the rare Boletus sedimentarius.

We began yesterday on the hunt for the rare and elusive Boletus sedimentarius.* This unusual mushroom grows from rocks in riparian habitats.
Our riparian habitat:

Our campsite during the hunt:

The mushroom:

The underside of the cap, bruised instantly blue where I touched it:

Our campsite after we cleaned up and were leaving:

Hide the evidence, I always say. I especially enjoyed making the campsite disappear.
*I have no idea what this mushroom is other than a Bolete.
Hope you enjoyed this thread as much as I enjoyed the camping.

That bolete is weird, I've seen boletes growing out of hillsides with rocks, but there was soil in the mix.

Failing to click the link, I totally fell for the joke -- going so far as to thumb through a few indexes looking for this species. Good one
Awesome mushrooms!

Nice joke Senor...looks like a good spot to camp too.

Sorry about that, George.
No, I'm not.
I'm glad a few of you appreciated the humor.
I've been meaning to get a copy of Boletes of Michigan by Smith and Thiers. Turns out there's an online copy without the photographs. As far as I know it is the seminal work on Boletes in our area.
The online copy is here. Thanks to Michael Kuo.
So at the moment I cannot ID this one, but hopefully soon, with enough offline resources, I'll be able too!

Agree, leaving no trace of your presence is a virtue and I find it strangely awarding to take a look at the spot you've just stayed to see there's nothing to betray your stay.
