Do you think I might be able to learn to play the guitar faster on a psychedelic?

Maybe the psychedelic drug could enable me to understand the instrument a lot faster...
I have this cool yoga book from the 70s called Complete Hatha Yoga by Kevin and Venika Kingsland, and they say somewhere in the world there's kids who learn some kind of disinhibiting discipline and can learn a new language in weeks.

When your unattached to to old ways of thinking you can absorb new ways very easily, just like a child is a sponge waiting to absorb cultural conditioning.
I would suggest meditating then trying to learn the guitar not tripping as thats just too full on to learn anything, it simply wont stick to your consciousness, i find when i trip its like everything just falls off as fast as it comes.
After i meditate & i play a musical instrument its amazing how easy it is, my hands move but its like its not me moving them, everythings lighter and easier.

For me i like to sometimes get out the old acoustic or electric after the peak of the trip and use the inspiration of my trip to find the right sound to out my trip into a song etc.. I find it a great way to reflect on the events.. IMO psychedelics can teach you allot about timing, pitch and harmony and inspire some creative songs i would not have put together sober, but for the learning the instrument low dose but practice practice practice is key to learning the actual instrument psychedelics can tune Ur soul to it :P

No, you aren't gonna learn any faster. In fact, I'd imagine you'd learn a good deal slower. I've been playing music for... well, nearly ten years now, and there isn't one instrument I can play better while I'm tripping.
If you really want to learn, there isn't any drug for it. The amount of time you invest doing quality exercises (read as: playing actual music, not just repeating the same Stairway to Heaven riff a few hundred times) is DIRECTLY correlated to your skill. Practice, practice, practice, and DON'T try and cut corners. You'll pay for that later: bad habits are incredibly hard to break.

For me electric guitar and LSD go together very well. Jimi Hendrix used to just sit in his studio high on LSD experimenting for hours and hours. It may or may not be the best for learning the basics, who knows, but definitely is a very interesting tool for exploring what you do know and looking at what you are playing from a different perspective. I just love to let go and let my soul play the music, its a very intense transfer of energy from my mind to the guitar and back to my mind again when I feel and hear it. Go for it.

That's some excellent advice. Although, I think, as others have said, they could aid me.

I guess it depends on your expectations.... If you are green and absolutely new to the instrument, I don't think tripping will help, at all.... If you have some basic muscle movement, coordination, and finger memory down, and can play alright, psychedelics can help inspire your improv playing for a night....
YMMV....

I have a friend that would disagree with this greatly.... He swears by Ritalin - I however never tried it.... Take that for what it is....

I've found opiates really enhance my playing, too bad they're so addictive, I see why musicians love heroin.

Back when I was in a band(s), we got the "work" done first - usually consisting knocking out the set list(s) completely without breaks.... After that part was done and over with, we usually took a break, toked up, and either improvised, or worked on finishing incomplete songs..... That seemed to be the best combo for inspiration and creativeness - for all....
I was never in a band with the Ritalin friend, but jammed with him quite a few times - he was a shredder, and pretty good.... Opiates can have their place, as could other things I guess.... Everyone could prolly~ come up with a different chemical tool(s) that works for them under certain circumstances....

if you already know how to play well then on shrooms you can just play and let the music work through you, its amazing, but learning from scratch

Agreed. Sober is the best way to learn. But once you can play, speed really helps me shred it up!

This will make much more sense if it is described as "the art of playing guitar."
Mushrooms will very much help you realize and explore relativity and substantiality - which is both the root and entire universe of music itself. It will teach you what it is to be an artist. As for your explicit guitar playing skills, you can easily see that this is related.
Ever read about Zen and the art of --- books?
Thats what it is so helpful to teach, Zen and the art of whatever.

Because of the longer fading signals, I am able to keep in time longer able to hold the moment of muscle memory that produced a cleaner tone for longer. Any 'good thing" can be extended, and any bad thing batted to the side faster, and with less guilt.
LSD helps facilitate new associations between notes with the same scale so it connects differently and also with musical logic. It decreases or allows you to push certain inhibitions to the side, giving more confidence and a more "personal sound"
It allows me to study musical visually and kinesthetically in greater layers/waves than in sobriety.
LSD didn't teach me to play guitar It taught me how to think of music, though.
I trip these days primarily for the arts, and comedy.
I don't care for the shrooms as much, due to their uneven ramping/uploading of the chemical due to being dispersed in the digestive process.

yes, definitely.
i dont know for sure if it will teach you correct fingerings or chords, because i never tried, but when i'm not on mushrooms i cant play guitar at all and when i am, i am totally in tune to the vibe in the room and i can play really fast and harmoniously and beautifully, and perfectly in time.

Faster? Maybe. If it allows you to open up and play unrestrained where you may unintentionally limit yourself normally. But true speed comes from being able to play correctly.. and nothing can replace that but tons of practice.
I find tripping helps me to explore my creativity more in playing.. and open up to possibilities I might not have consider normally.

Doooood.... When you are fucked up, almost all music (and noises) sound "good".... Try recording your "really fast, harmoniously, beautifully, and perfectly in time" music, then play it back when you are sober.... It's kind of like the beer goggle effect on sound....
