Cow pattie ID!!
    #8621774 - 07/11/08 12:01 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Ok, Our field has never grown cubes(or at least ive never seen them grow. Today, however, I found this piece of shit, with what looks like some dead pins, and one really heathly pin. But they dont look like the normal (dung loving) non active ones to me.. I hope they are cube pins.;) Is it too early to tell?

BTW: sorry about the quality, my camera doesnt get up close shots too well. but the stalk on that little one has what looks like tiny spikes. IDK, it may be just me.

When it's ready to pick, see if it bruises blue.  Make a spore print for 2 reasons:  1) further data point for a positive ID and 2) to insure a supply of spreadable spores in the event it is an active species.

Probably Psilocybe coprophilia or Stropharia semiglobata.

Hopefully I am wrong.

I don't think those are going to be Cubensis. The stem is kind of dark, and usually the veil would not have torn by then. I actually don't even see a veil.

I saw it done somewhere. Odds are it probably won't, but it may. Once taken out of their natural environment its hard to get them stable again once you interrupt the network of mycelium.

wen i was visiting family a couple weeks ago i found several cow paddies, colonized with mycellium that bruised blue, so i put then in a damp spot next to the creek and a week later there where about 40 grams of p. cubes (not shore wat strain though) but the potency sucked... but it was cool...

There is really only 1 cubensis. So, it probably wasn't a cube some type of other psilocybe maybe.

ive put poop in a perlite chamber and lots of other people have too... it keeps humidity high and the mushrooms grow fine as long as you give them good FAE

but is it a cube pin? not the one and maybe not the other... but ive seen two different mushrooms on one pie before...
