I grew up in Tennessee and spent 23 years of my life there. From the age of 15, I have referred to High quality bud as DANK, or Kind Bud and so did everyone around me. In Atlanta, it was pretty much the same. People called it KILL, NUGZ, DANK. So I move to TX a couple years ago. I quickly learn that people aren't used to calling Quality herb "Dank". They would always say "Oh you mean DRO??". And I would say ... "Uh I guess... if it's Dank." Now I know that's what EVERYONE in TX calls Dank. they call it "DRO".
My problem with this is that it is not an accurate description of what I am looking for. Hydroponics is a growing technique. It has nothing to do with quality, potency, value. You can buy some SHITTY ASS DRO. just because it's Hydro doesn't mean it's good. I would rather have some Organic outdoor bud over some premature, unleeched chemical tasting DRO. I guess this comes from hip Hop lyrics or some shit. It annoys the shit out of me.
Anyone else feel my pain? ITS CALLED "DANK" PEOPLE. Who's with me?

I use "high grade" or sensimilla...
Sensi simply means 'without seed' I think, which is basically what you want in high grade bud.

I agree while I may not call it dank I don't agree with the term dro for something that isn't hydroponically grown i usually refer to it by strain or if its just general good quality then it's simply just headies

the english language is evolving, this thread is case and point. in florida high grade is also referred to as "dro." we also have the lame ass word "crippy" but i don't take to that word myself.

This is nothing new, has been happening all over the US for quite awhile, I assumed it was quite common knowledge by now. If your tired of not getting the shit your paying for, get a better dealer.

similar bullshit here! bc hydro or bc bud etc. isnt always from bc, nor is it always that good. just because it came from near a border does it mean its from across the border. the stuff that really is from canada is the shit thats good for one thing...making money. fuck, the best weed i ever have had has been good indoor, not from british columbia, and not hydro. hydro is great when done right but it is a style of growing, not a measure of weed.

Dealers from the top to the bottom will use any name to attract buyers. Truth is if you didn't grow it, or if you don't know the person growing it then you don't know what the fuck it is. If it has some white crystals they sell it as white widow. If it has a purple tint to it then its purple haze, and so on. Truth is the purple tint has nothing to do with it, its a deficiency of nutrients. Unless of course its the real purple strain.

once my room was getting colder during the off cycle cuz it was winter, all our kush plants turned purple
the purple doesnt affect thc prolly but it sure looks cool...and purple or not that kush was ASS KICKING

Well, i have never heard anybody around here (california) call weed "dro"....But i have heard the term used before across the internets and these forums quite a few times, and then of course through the media and rap songs. It sorta annoys me to....I mean call it what you want, but atleast understand what "dro" is. And IMO hydro doesn't even compare to organic soil.....Stupid kids

this is a subject that often bothers me. not all hydroponic weed is high quality. and the same for the reciprical, not all dank buds are grown with hydroponics.
people call it dro because they think they sound cool when they say it. i actually prefer organic soil grown marijuana over hydroponics grown any day of the week.

Yea temperature can also cause it. Mine was been due to nutrient problems...I think anyway. I do know nutrients can cause it. I can't remember which nute will cause it if lacking. Too lazy to look it up too.

ya whenevr im in florida people call it crippy or cripto. never heard called cripto anywhere else till i was at a party a few nights ago and some kid called it cripto and i was like, are you from florida? turns out he was from miami.
