Clavicle Fracture (update)
    #8609943 - 07/08/08 07:31 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Damn. The other day I was lifting and I didnt feel any sudden pains to indicate a stress fracture. Later that night I could feel sudden sharp pains in my clavicle. I can feel the area where the clavicle is injured. It is a bit more sensitive and I get sharp pains every once in a while.

To me working out it like an addicting drug. Now I cant do it. I feel like im going to get fat and shitty now. gah...

I researched a bit and decided to intake high amounts of calcium, lysine, vitamine C, vitamine K, and Boron. Also taking zinc.

Has anyone had any experience with stress fractures in the clavicle? Can You still run? Squat? This is the second time a stress fractured in the clavicle! The first time it made sense. I was not working out properly. This time... It makes no sense. All I can think of is that I might have been using a bit of improper form on bench, but usually I am pretty good at that.

Anyways. If anyone knows any secrets to stimulate bone growth.. please let me know. I read that steroids are a bone stimulant. hmm

Update:

I rested my arm for one and a half weeks and it felt so much better. Then I decided to lift and realized that the next day it was a bad idea. I just couldnt resist. I went to the hospital today for an X-ray and the result will be in on monday.

What bothered me is that in that one week and a half of rest is that I lost so much muscle. Its so hard to bear that you loose everything you worked so hard for.

I accepted my injury and now I rest!

I love this forum by the way. Plenty of good advice.

Well man that sucks. Its only 6 weeks at the most though. Don't re injure your self, or make it worse. You will just be out longer. Enjoy the time off, and hit it hard when you are better. In the mean time, educate yourself on proper nutrition, and how to perform exercises.

How did you do it? From benching?

I might have done it from holding the bar more over my neck, than over my chest. During my last 3 reps it fell to my chest, but not hard because I had a spotter. The bar did not hit my clavicle, but the clavicle might have been put under major stress because of the shoulder and peck muscle giving out. I didnt feel any imediate pain. I only felt it later that night before bed. It is already healing up well. The pain is gone... but my left arm feels a little weak.

Do you bounce the bar off your chest?

You should have the bar in the middle of your chest, and should only go as low as it takes for your arms to reach a 90 degree angle. You don't need to go all the way down, when you do you are working out your shoulders, and not your chest. Thats how you injure your self.
