I believe that some variants of Gymnopilus junonius are active, but they are supposed to be both very mild and extremely bitter. So to trip you would have to eat many foul tasting mushrooms, not something that is necessary when that many subs are around.

Yes gyms are very bitter, maybe try a few specimens in a tea too check for activity you could be missing out. But im the same as you i found sum gyms the other day then found a ton of weilii and have yet too eat the gyms i found cuz weilii are so potent.

If you make gyms into a tea, and add a lot of sugar its meant to be ok

It sounds like having black tea that's been brewed all day, only active.

Hey guys, the hunting forum is incredibly busy these days... Here is an update from the area about 6 days after those first photos were taken -
Remember this cluster?

This is it all grown up 6 days later -
---> --->
A large Agaricus sp. -

Subaeruginosa mycelium running through the grass (notice the pins in the top right of the photos) -

And a close up of that pin -

Threesome with an onlooker -

An interesting psilocybe sp (I think coprophila). It left a purple/black spore print and was growing directly from cow dung. Firstly in the field -

Then later back at base (note the hygrophanous cap) -

A forest of Laccarias -

The siamese twin -

The final harvest and some prints to embark on an epic adventure -

Some scenery shots -

I love winter....

Not technically, but they won't kill you so I guess that you could call them edible. They wouldn't be targeted as a gourmet mushroom but neither would a psilocybe...

I should but they are probably all too old now - they come up about a month before the subs do. Probably will find a couple of specimens next hunt though so will see how I go.
