Banned for commercial sale, and illegal are very different terms.
Why do you paraphrase????? I said L-Tryptophan has never been made illegal to possess or consume. And that statement is 100% correct, your statement that tryptophan was made illegal to possess or consume is incorrect.

L-Tryptophan has never been made illegal to possess or consume in the US.
Here are the actual quotes, I don't have to paraphrase.

Cool, I was misinformed (that sucks).... "Banned" is the correct word.... Thank you for clearing it up for me.... I was going on memory from 14-18 years ago when it all went down when I made the initial statement....

Erm... from the 5th line of that article:
Quote:
The existing approval that allows for the import of up to 2 kg of kava in the accompanied baggage of an incoming passenger (aged 18 years or over) to Australia will continue.
So what's the point of this thread again?

urm what was the point of your last post? if you read the title of this thread: Restricting use of mild ethnobotanical herbs/plants, the point of this thread seems quite clear to me.
are you trying to say that by having to actually travel overseas to pick up some kava, that is not restricting in any way?
if they are not trying to make it harder to get kava, then what the fuck are they doing?

There's no restriction on growing your own kava. The new restrictions are about importing more than 2kg at one time. It's like the restrictions on importing more than 2L of alcohol.

as the article says,
Quote:
All imports of kava under existing permits that are not for medical or scientific purposes will be detained by the Australian Customs Service from 26 June 2007
with the exeption of,
Quote:
The existing approval that allows for the import of up to 2 kg of kava in the accompanied baggage of an incoming passenger (aged 18 years or over) to Australia will continue.
so you can no longer order 500g from another country on the internet, but you can still bring 2kg back WITH YOU from overseas.
weather you can grow it at home or not, the whole point of this, is to restrict the use of kava.

Oh wow! That came pretty fast!
Yeah I've seen Kava for sale here at Happy High Herbs, whether they import it or grow it here I'm not sure. I don't know of anyone who buys it regularly.

i'd say they are just selling stock that was bought before the regulations came into place.
i am going to go there tomorrow and ask them about it though.
