Galerina spore print images
    #8599016 - 07/05/08 10:36 PM (3 months, 3 days ago)

Hello,

Im going on a Blue Mountains hunt soon, looking for pan subs. I know to look for inactive Stropharias as a guide to where they might be, and that Galerina autumnalis is the deadly lookalike to avoid.

I have seen Galerina spores described as rusty brown and subs spores are purplish black.

I will take spore prints of every mushroom even if I am sure they are subs. But I have never seen a spore print of either that I can be sure is rusty brown or purplish black. It is very hard to say what colour is what without reference to the others...

Does anyone have any images of galerina autumnalis or psilocybe subaeruginosa (Australiana, Eucalyptica) spore prints they can put up here? I think this would be useful for a good many n00bs.

Yeah, there are Ps. subaeruginosa in the Blue Mountains. I highly doubt you'll find Pan. subbs in Australia, especially in winter.

Oh I know! I checked the galerina prints against the subs that I identified from last time I went out there, was satisfied, and reached level four last night . I just wanted to check some other prints for safety and certainty before I did my first hunted mushroom trip. Thanks though!

Yeah, not to pick DNA lumpers nits, but Dizzwizzle got the name correct.  There are no G. autumnalis anymore.   They are all Galerina marginata now after the DNA analysis.

Congrats on the find.

Can you provide some Gymnopilus prints for comparison?

Nice green background on the pic.  It really shows the orange.
