My Respect For Alcohol

Who else gained more respect for alcohol this weekend.
I know I did. I got way too drunk on friday, and am still paying for it like 24 hours later. And will pay for it for another few days. I mean I'm still throwing up. I had like 1/2 a bottle of bacardi 151, and 24 beers. I can't eat or drink anything I just throw it up. Its safe to say I had way too much, and probably poisoned myself...And its legal WOW.

I have no respect for alcohol, not what so ever, had it decided to be my friend instead of ripping my guts out a dozen times maybe things could have been different... I"m glad it's the way it is

Weed would definitely help a hangover. Even just a tiny little hit, even if you don't get high, it should still do wonders for nausea. I just sleep a hangover off without it...
I'm through with binge drinking myself, blacking out sucks... After 3 or 4 drinks you really start to pay for it the next day...
After I get really really drunk I usually just throw up every hour for 12 consecutive hours or so the next day unless I have plenty of weed. First few are the ones that suck then its just dry heaves or water.

That much alcohol would probably kill me dude lol.
Nothing good ever comes out of drinking heavily for me. I always end up puking or pouring my guts out to girls that I want to fuck and totally turning them off.

Weed works wonders I agree. I grow, but unfortunately I smoked more than I did from my last grow and I sold about an ounce of it to some good friends. I don't have any, and I'm too sick to attempt to find any.
I blacked out, and threw up. I don't think I'm drinking again. If I do it will be a long time from now. Alcohol is awful. I drink weekly usually. Several of my friends go out to the bars, and I usually follow like 1 day of the week.
Prisoner, I think this is the last time. It may have finally finished it off. I feel horrible.

As for the pedialyte that is a really good idea. I think I will go pick some up from walmart in a minute. I've been trying the gatorade and well it isn't cutting it.

You'll do it again. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But soon and you'll be regretting it again with another hangover.

Exactly what I said to myself while typing it. I know I'll drink again even if only very lightly, but I will still feel like shit. I'm going to walmart to try to get some stuff to feel better.

hahaahaha that's pretty excessive 1/2 bottle of 151? shit! that would kill me let alone 24 more beers, nice.
yeah, i learned the hard way where to draw the line... many times.

Meh. Part of being a young person is pushing the limits and learning the hard way what consequence comes from excesses. Unless a person just abstains entirely from alcohol then there are at least a few gnarly hangovers involved in this process.
But IMO alcohol is like any other drug, it must be treated with respect and used in moderation. If a person learns this moderation and is able to use alcohol responsibly then wheres the problem? Too often people refer to a drug they don't like by using a blanket term such as "bad" or "evil" to describe it. In the meantime they've forgotton that its not the drug, but the user (abuser) who creates the problem. This thinking is exactly how come we have so many ridiculous drug laws today.
I have often found myself in the role of defending alcohol here at the Shroomery. I drink regularly. A few beers a night on average. I don't smoke weed, and alcohol is my drug of choice for daily relaxation and weekend recreation. But I've learned to use it well. I haven't drank to the point of puking since I was in my early 20's (I'm 40 now). And I don't often drink to the point of getting 'hammered' anymore. I got pretty drunk on the 4th of July because I switched from my usual (beer) to drinking mojitos. But as soon as I felt I was getting drunk I stopped drinking. Admittedly, for a guy like me it took a lot of alcohol before I began to suffer loss of coordination and slurred speech. Many others would've been face down if they had consumed the same amount as I had. But still, I knew when to quit and I woke up on Saturday morning feeling like I could run a marathon!
But thats the key to it. Learning your limits, knowing when enough is enough, and then having the self-control to stop when you reach that point. And for some people that self control will never come. An alcoholic will always drink to excess, and the only hope they have is to avoid it completely. But as with any drug user, thats their problem and not the fault of the drug itself. And they need to fight that lifelong battle to never use again.
Also, I have not been behind the wheel of a car even slgihtly buzzed since I was in my 20s. Once I have a beer I'm done driving for the night. Its just my policy.

I woke up ill as fuck on saturday.. I spent most of the day shivering and throwing up, with an absolutely disgusting headache.
If I had eaten a load of 'hard' drugs, like I was going to, I would have felt a bit mentally retarded, but that would be it.
The effects of alcohol aren't even nice.. Why are all legal highs so shitt?

That sort of cop out argument can be applied to anything.
Alcohol is a poor drug. You drink it, it makes you feel a bit more social and confident, then you start chasing this feeling with more alcohol (just like with most other drugs), then things start to get sloppy.
If I ate some mdma, I would have done the same thing, I would come up off the first 100mg, then probably eat more until I'd devoured 0.5g, however, the next day I would feel a little bit special (you know that fuzzy brain feeling) and my mouth would be a a little sore due to me chewing on it, but I would not feel physically sick. In fact, after a hard night on mdma (as in eating it until it stops working) I actually wake up feeling good. Not to mention the drug itself feels infinitely better.
If I ate some acid, I would have 'woken up' feeling a bit mentally retarded but generally brilliant.
The only other drugs that actually give me dirty hangovers are pills and cocaine (and crack).
I know my feeling ill as fuck is purely due to my hedonistic abuse of this dirty chemical, but I think people hold alcohol in a much more positive light than it actually deserves...
The actual effect of alcohol seems to be going the 'wrong way' as well.. it doesn't conglomerate you mind/body/etc into one, it seems to separate them (like ketamine, nitrous and dxm).
Of course this is all just my opinion...

What other drug makes you so totally stupid, AND confident? Uncoordinated and yet full of pep and ambition!
I don't think anyone is personally blaming the ethyl alcohol molecule.
But different drugs do effect you differently. That's why we take them.
Personally, I can't believe people still consume that barbaric shit.
It's proven to kill brain cells and rot you from your mouth to your asshole.
Although an far as effective 'date rape drugs' go.... it can't be beat!

Try Zantac if you're throwing up bile. DT's are a bitch.

Thats 600 mililiters of pure alcohol. That is literally a POUND of PURE DRUG you consumed. It is approximately 1/10 of your entire blood volume as Everclear.
It would kill me. If drunk at once, it could kill two normal alcohol non-tolerant adults.

That sucks man. Hope you are alright.
The alcohol finally released its grip lightly from me at about 5 am, and I finally got to sleep. Some of you said stuff about moderation...Well, I usually do it. Thing is me, and a friend sat over at his place and took shots before leaving after drinking beer all day. Went to this place, I was drunk, and these guys that I kind of know not real well but anyway they handed me a bottle of 151 so I took 1 shot. Then they handed me a funnel the next thing I remember was waking up the next morning.
After I got drunk they kept getting me to take shots of the 151, and from a friend who was there I drank half the bottle straight. It was awful it wasn't even fun. I usually have 6-12 beers, and play poker or something like that. I crossed a line the other night. I intend to never go back there again.
With each sip of the beer he told himself...Moderation. Thats my mentality from now on.

I'm pretty sure you are right. I probably could have been taken to the hospital that night. Alcohol poisoning despite what people think isn't always deadly, and in a lot of cases its not. I certainly was one of those cases. I think you put it in better words more respect for myself. I did just that. I don't drink much anymore I did the first few years of college, but I've just outgrown doing it. I'm glad someone else said alcohol poisoning I needed to be taken to the hospital, but am glad I wasn't. I didn't want that medical bill or that huge ass pipe they put down your stomach. I know someone who was taken and the doctor said give me the big tube so this guy will remember this and not want to come back. Rough.

Alcohol seems to effect the part of the brain that controls those very 'moderation' thoughts that we're talking about.
