 SoCal Rave/Dance/Underground Party Scene

So I am new to SoCal, and am kind of interested in finding out a bit more about the rave/dance/underground party scene. It it rocking? Is it lame? I've never been to a rave before, but am definently interested. I know a lot of people say it isn't what it use to be, but they can't all be crap...right?

There should be raves there where u are, better yet nighclub gigs, i hope soomeone know your area better than me and responds

if you want real feeling and spirit, psytrance is the only scene i know of the US with any, and they don't call their parties raves.

First, train yourself to get suspicious every time you see simplicity. Any claim that the root of a problem is simple should be treated the same as a claim that the root of a problem is Bigfoot. Simplicity and Bigfoot are found in the real world with about the same frequency.
So reject binary thinking of "good vs. bad" or "us vs. them." Know problems cannot be solved with clever slogans and over-simplified step-by-step programs.

psytrance is cool, I am not looking for any one thing in particular, just somewhere that I can enjoy some good music and dancing.
What about a more specific area, say the tri-county area of SLO/SB/Ventura Counties?

raves in socal are the best ever you can find em everywhere all the lights and techno and dancing OH BOY! damn all the e too!

there are a lot of raves but they are in weird places and are not advertised publicly. My friend took me to a few, some were up in the hills off of strange small roads. Tryin to hide from the man

ha and understandably so. From what I gather, if I would like to attend one of these events, It would help to know someone familiar with the scene, correct?
I know about EDC, Nocturnal, Awakening, etc. and then some of the LA clubs that have weekly/monthly shows. Just trying to find something a little bit closer to home and maybe a little more underground.

ive turned countless stoner buddies into kandi kidz
its too fucking EZ
and im serious all my friends now give me kandi everyday its nuts

and jus liek joo ADDICTED
one of them was rollin balls las nite at the party while every1 else was shroomin and i was fryin
ahahahhaa he had glow stickx in his goggles n shit that he traded at edc for a bandana rofl

never been to a rave myself, but i'm interested in psytrance, but it seems that you have to be in the know for that kinda stuff.
