or out of a bra.. Im pretty sure roger did that.. and a hat.. and money.. I think it was him, but I may be mistaken..

Yeah, I could actually run 2 of my marthas off of the same cool mist... the whole martha setup cost me 30 bucks, minus the cool mist..

And it just looks so sick..

Little confused, mix half a jar in a fruiting tray w/ the coir? then pour the other half on top of that mixture??

Also I'am a newb and it sounds like a great tek that works great, sounds like the martha FC is a factory for making shrooms though lmfao.

It's easier for a noob like me to make a sterlite shotgun bin with perlite but then I wouldn't have a mushroom factory like you.

My first grow should start in a week, waiting for my syringes. Using a brf tek cased. Going with grain cased as my next grow.

I know you live by yourself but how discrete is this martha? I sometimes have people/family come over and I don't know if I can keep this misting/lighted thing draped in plastic discrete hehe.

for the jars, yes.. you mix in half the colonized grain WITH the coir IN the tray, then pour the rest on top... this makes it colonize quickly, and the spawn on top makes a barrier of sorts.. the top will colonize VERY fast, and mycelium is fairly resistant to infection when its good and colonized.. that is probably another reason I have success without using micropore tape or any sort of filter on the aluminum foil for the casings... plus, im just really clean

And my martha stays in my closet.. Ive had my manager in here, my dad, grandparents.. just dont let them in your closet.. haha.. as I have stated before, if I cleaned out the closet more, I could fit 2 or 3 more in there...

And yea, I love it because it IS a mushy factory.. I never have to do anything except for keep the cool mist filled, and mist once per day (depending on time of year)...

I'm confused. If you use half of 1 quart per tray, that would be 6 trays and 3 jars... Am I missing something?

contam barrier!!..... i was confused about this topic because i saw people adviseing for it or against it. so i posted a thread on the topic. RR posted and said the grain on top is just asking for mold because of exposed grain. put a thin layer of coir on top. then case after full colonization.

ok.. 6 trays=6 jars

all the jars are FULLY colonized, so no infection can set in..

yes.. for each tray, you have 1 jar.. you first mix half the COLONIZED grain in with the coir, then pour the rest on top.. and there you go.. you have used 1 jar for 1 tray..

there wont be "exposed grain", because you only use a jar for spawn when FULLY colonized.. if its colonized, then there is no "exposed grain"..

so again, to recap..

6 jars=6 trays

mix half of a jar in one tray with the coir, then pour the other half on top.. using 1 WHOLE COLONIZED jar per tray...

I really cannot explain it any clearer than that.. its a pretty simple concept... haha

Do you find misting necessary with the 24/7 humidification?
Is a humidifier a known way to provide enough air exchange?

OOOO yeah.. the cool mist on 24/7 provides CONSTANT FAE.. it works greattttt...

misting is a necessity during certain parts of the year, when the heat goes up, and humidity goes down.. so, like right now, a small mist every morning above the casings keeps them hydrated.. this will vary, though.. if you are in washington, then you probably will not need to spray...

the cuts in the martha help control RH as well.. its not the RH that Im spraying to correct.. its the casing layer.. when its hotter and less humid, I noticed that my casing tends to dry out a lil bit, and indirectly misting helps stop this.. the humidifier does great at keeping the RH up inside the martha...

I think sterilizing the metal tools is a little excessive, wouldn't an alcohol rub down be enough.

yeah.. but if you look anywhere that they use metal tools in a sterile environment (ie doctors office, tattoo parlor, etc) they autoclave ALL instruments used that are metal, that ge re-used.. thats why I do it
