Woe are my molars
    #8597763 - 07/05/08 03:25 PM (3 months, 7 days ago)

I'm glad I have a few Lortabs cause my teeth feel chipped up. My back molars are just chipped in various places over the years and it's driving me crazy not from pain but just something sharp for my tongue to go crazy over.

Thing is; I'm laid off work and have never really had a good dental health plan, so now I'm flat on my ass in that department. What should I do?

Get em fixed now before they need root canals.  Or just get them extracted.  I went through the same shit.  I have spent over $5000 in the last year on dental repairs.  Most could have been fixed for cheap if I just went to the dentist when they first chipped.  Insurance or not.  Figure a cavity/filling will run roughly $80 to $300 without insurance.  A root canal without insurance on a molar is about $800.  I wish I went when I had no insurance.  Insurance doesn't pay much anyway.  I get roughly $1000 per year.  These prices are in US funds.  May vary depending on area.

If your totally broke look for some free clinics in your area.  There are a few near me but you have to arrive at the ass-crack of dawn and stand in line for hours.  The work is usually done for free by students learning the trade.  So the work may not be top notch but it's better than having holes in your teeth.

Oh and if you are laid off you might be eligible for welfare benefits (again only in US AFAIK).  My buddy got a full upper partial put in, along with 6 root canals, for free.  I was so pissed.
