Critical Thinking - Rules Clarification

Despite popular belief, critical thinking is welcome in this forum.
There are no rules against disagreement or discussion.
As Shroomism says in the rules post, it's a fuzzy line between debate and discussion so we do our best to keep things open.
Rule #3 states:
3) Mocking others beliefs is not allowed. Making posts or threads that mock in a ridiculing manner will not be tolerated. For skeptic vs believer style debates on spiritual issues, visit the Philosophy and Spirituality board.
This does not mean we all have to agree, only that we try to be respectful.
Hope that helps.

In the past I have been warned for merely starting a thread that is contrary to the prevailing belief system here.
This is not in accord with your latest update. Please explain further.

Good.
Some moderator posts have stated that everyone must agree with the factual contentions of everyone else. Which apparently meant that you couldn't disagree with some factual assertion once its uttered in the thread- whcih was ubserd and not enforced.
This is probably at least part of what orgone was referring to.
The respectful rule makes sense and isn't hopelessly absurd

Thanks John.
It's wierd I catch so much flack, the rules were much more strict before I stepped up and I think this forum breathes better with a little debate.

Debunking threads are not allowed in this forum for obvious reasons:
"Here is a place for the dreamers who do not wish to have their ideas harshly criticized or disproved."
Please visit one of the many skeptic and debunking forums on the net.
This is not an update, I have explained this many times in the past.
Debate is allowed as long as the OP has no problem with it.
'Respectful' is a judgment call so us Mods do our best.
