Cacti help
    #8595933 - 07/04/08 08:13 PM (2 months, 10 hours ago)

Hey all,

My long spined San Pedro is a bit sick i think, when i bought it it was a really weird dark yellowy almost orange color around the base. The upper cacti was really soft, but after some tlc it is rock hard now. It started to go green again in some spots after a few months but seems to have stopped. It is also growing really really slow, about 1 cm in 6 months!? My other pedros have grown up to 3/4ft in that time.

The color is alot more yellow/orange than the photos show. Any ideas whats wrong?

Also, should i bring the cacti inside over winter? They are getting lots of rain outside.

Cheers!

Nothing wrong IMO, Pedros are pale green. The yellowing comes from lots of sun, but that磗 still ok for Pedros.
The yellowing is also a good indicator of strength in my experience. It means that cactus has plenty of light.
It is summer up there right?

How are the nutes for this guy?

my pedro does the same, gets softer after a long hot day too, but it hardens back up at night.

Its actually winter here. Im in the southern hemisphere :awesome:

Hmm, thats good then i guess! Haha.

The nutrients are good, they were repotted as soon as i got them with a handful of sheep crap spread in. I think that should be good for a year or two.

How about the slow growth though?

And should i keep them sheltered from too much rain?

Cheers!

They磖e not supposed to grow very much during winter, if any at all, depending on how cold it gets there.

Really? The other ones are still pumping along, its like they are on steroids.

But in 6 months it should have grown a shit load more than 1cm dont you think? Im thinking it might have some root issues or something, meh maybe im just getting too worried

Cheers!
