Wow!  :cryariver:  I'm speachless.  I've been working so much that I totally missed this.  How I came across this forum and this thread is beyond me,(first time in this forum:oogle:) I owe who I am today because of his discovery.  There are no words to express my deepest gratitude to a person I've never met, yet managed to "bless" me with a key to "Heaven".  See you on the other side.

102 huh? Pretty funny if you ask me. The world granted him a long life....or perhaps he did it himself. He kept his health, eye sight, and sanity till 102. To top it all off. HE INVENTED LSD.

I bet the guy who invented meth lived till he was 43 and died of AIDS.

He lived a good life. In addition to being one of most prominent geniuses in the world he was very a healthy person.

It's sad he passed because of a heart attack, but I think the fact he made it this far shows that it came from old age.

R.I.P. Albert.....

My 1st Ed. copy of 'My Problem Child' will always be one of my most cherished objects.

Hi.  I met Albert Hoffman and one of his assistants in the Netherlands in the late nineties.  It was  his 90-something birthday.  He was indeed tripping on LSD that evening and his assistant informed me that they took out a special batch for the occasion.  Two of us gave him sclerotia (P. mex "A")-I think we were responsible for introducing P. mex "A" to the commercial market here(they were only selling P.tampa then)- and I recall him asking exactly what species they were in German.  Since he was already on LSD he saved the sclerotia.
I was not sober myself so my memory is a little hazy.  I do recall Jonathon Ott and another scientist being a little higher than everyone else to the point of not being able to communicate effectively.  I would like to meet Ott when he's sober sometime.
Hoffman really did introduce a problem child for himself, however he opened the doors to a revolution that's still in progression.

I tripped acid for the first time (and only time so far) 3 days before his death. Seems fitting doesn't it? I tried to trip right after as well in memorial but couldn't scrounge up the acid.
