haha, sorry, i wasn't trying to drag you into a conversation you don't want to have. Just merely pointing out my own opinion on the matter.
Me, personally, i want people to be upfront with me. If you have a problem with me, or something i did, don't leave a cute little note written cryptically trying to point out my faults while being super nice.
Tell me i fucked up, tell me how i fucked up, and tell me how i should fix it. I hate beating around the bush to resolve issues, i might not like being called names or being told i acted like an ass, but id rather be told then not. Or rather be told then have to try to figure out if i did something wrong, and if i did, what the hell it was.
Some people just can't handle being talked to directly like that, they take every criticism or blunt words as a total personal assault on them, and then the defenses raise and you get nowhere. It pisses me off sometims that i feel like i have to coddle certain people in fear of sending them off on some psychotic rampage.

Well, generally I am not concerned with whether or not somebody goes on a psychotic rampage, just whether or not they stay open minded. When the mind snaps shut, there's no point in conversing any further.
And don't worry about that comment about having the conversation again... it's just that this is starting to remind me of the old S&P debate of the extremes of 'complete disregard for emotional impact' versus 'eggshell walking' and the same old tendency to overlook the very broad gray zone in the middle.
I will bow out of this thread now though, as this seems to be the inevitable direction in which it is headed.

How tactless of you to bring up the old S&P debate.
This conversation is different than the old S&P debate in two key ways. We are not discussing rules, and people are not being banned without grounds.
Back on topic.
The way the word 'Tact' is used in the U.S.A., well it is silly.
For example this is how Americans often rationalize being tactful:
"I didn't tell grandma I got arrested because I didn't want to hurt her feelings."
How noble... you did it for grandma...
Bullshit.
You didn't tell grandma you were arrested, because you didn't want her to know you are not perfect. You didn't want her to judge your actions... etc.
Tact only serves yourself... but we Americans like to pretend we are tactful because we don't want to hurt somebody's feelings.
I can do without that kind of bullshit.
