shit. the shroomery was doing its update when i posted.
i mentioned to just get some rest. and do everything when you get home from whatever tomorrow.
i dont think that the 12 hours +/- is going to give the stumps enough time to rot. and you can focus more on the dunk and casing...

I got that casing layer a-cookin' and the tray a dunk'n.
A quick question about the dunking. So I got the water running into the casing tray, its flowing over the sides. I have a jar of pickles sitting on the substrate so it wont float. When its hour is up, do I simply pour the water out of the tray, then place back into the FC? Then add the casing layer when its all cool?
Some rest would have been nice, but at least this dunk and the casing layer aren't too taxing.

Don't keep the water running, it's a waste.
Dunk it, then drain it well. Then proceed as you stated. If you don't drain it properly your sub will end up waterlogged leading to contamination and miserable yields.

Throw out harvest yah?
Do I just dump this tray out in my yard somewhere or something? Sigh .
I'm signing off. G-Damn, maybe next time I won't stay awake in vain.

If you have a yard where there is mostly shady spot, bury the tray so that it is covered by about 1/2" of topsoil. It will fruit!!! I've recouped many a shroom that way! Here's proof!

Note: when the shrooms do pop up (and they will!) you'll need to protect them from squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks. Here's how I did it:

Here are the updated pictures:

Does the green/blue in the stems look like bruising? I didn't do the paper towel test yet. This is my last concern. If it looks good I'm just going to take the plunge and eat 'em.
Also, I had the mushrooms in a vacutainer for about six hours, thinking this would work by itself without pre-drying. I can't get them out and next to a fan for at least another ten hours. Will this be fine?
Besides that, I buried the cake. Sad sad. Hopefully it'll blossom into a mushroom forest . Okay, thanks again for all your replies hopefully the mushrooms look okay to you guys so I can enjoy the fruits of my labor.

I disagree, running water prevents any type of contam sneaking in and taking hold. Standing water is a no no in every aspect of mushroom cultivation. Besides, you only need to dunk you casing for 20 mins or so, you also don't and shouldn't need to have your water gushing out full force from the faucet. A nice, steady stream will do just fine.

Yes, it's bruising! There's nothing in those pictures which would lead me to believe that there is a problem with the mushrooms themselves. Go ahead and EAT 'EM!

Only needed it for 24 hours until the 'shrooms were fully mature. Well worth the 5 minutes invested in securing the fruits, and 5 minutes tear-down time. Cost me nothing, as the blocks and wire were on-hand.
You may consider it an eyesore, but the salvage of about 24 grams cracker-dry was worth what little effort was involved. Don't really see what your objection is. I took the requisite steps to protect my crop, like any good farmer would.

no need to get so defensive bro. i know it served its purpose. i suppose tho after growing mj outside most of my life, i like things to be very discreet. i AM kinda worried tho when i put my mush bed outside bcuz i will have them covered with a black trash bag during colonization...
not worried about someone seeing it, i live on 8 secluded acres on a hawaiian volcano, but the look of it is going to make me twitchy
props to you on the harvest man, and like you said it was just a quick fix

From what I know anything purple or blue isn't bad. You should really try them fresh though, far superior high.

I wasn't able to find much on purple contaminations. What I did find sounded pretty scary (causes spinal fluid to leak into body), but only affects during colonization. Couldn't find any pictures though.
I'm currently working on drying these bad boys out. Had my buddy put them next to a fan for 12 hours, then put them into the vacuchamber with the dissicant.
Since this isn't enough to divide among me and my friends at the eighth amount we all agreed to trip on, I'm just going to divide it equally - - probably a gram per each of us -- to give them an idea what to expect. This'll be their first time, and it'll be from something they helped grow. Everyone is incredibly excited.
Thanks again shroomery and everyone who replied in this thread. I feel like I'm now officially a part of this community and can start helping others pretty soon.

Muffin, tell everyone not to eat anything 4 or 5 hours before taking the mushrooms. If you eat them on a full stomach, especially a small amount, it won't do much.

Didn't mean to sound defensive, but I guess it did. No worries, my friend, I still love ya! You may not remember, but we've exchanged messages before.
Damn...you live on a Hawaiian volcano hillside? When can I come visit?????

maybe let the guys who havent tripped b4 eat them, and you and whoever has, can hold out till next flush
i know how excited you must be to eat your own, but theres a likely possibility no one will feel them if you all eat very little amounts. that would be worse than some feeling them while others watch....
besides, youll be a pro soon, pumpin out OZ's and have plenty for everyone....including me

I disagree. It is a waste. Water is a finite resource and the benefits gained from leaving it on do not outweigh the fact you are pouring water down the drain. Standing water works fine for numerous people. It may increase the chance of contamination but it doesn't mean you will end up with contamination.
